Diagnosis of the disease is considered the main link in the treatment. This rule applies to all branches of medicine, especially the nervous system. The brain and spinal cord are the main regulators of all body functions, so an error in diagnosing the pathology of these departments can cost a sick person life.
The mechanism of the brain and spinal cord
The brain is the central control unit of the whole organism. This is due to the fact that the functions of all organs and systems depend on it. When any stimulus appears aimed at any structure of our body (it can be skin, olfactory, visual, auditory or
taste analyzers), the signal is always transmitted to the brain. Nerve fibers and plexuses depart from the center to the periphery (remote areas of the body). Thanks to these formations, the brain controls all the structures of our body. The signal from any organ passes through the nearby nerve fibers to the main section: the head or spinal analyzer. In them, this information is processed and converted. Then, along the paths of innervation, it goes back to the organs in which after this a response to the stimulus occurs.
Brain Assessment Methods
In order to determine whether the brain works well, to identify the presence of pathological processes, it is necessary to carefully check its functions. This can be done using special methods developed in modern medicine. These include EEG, REG of cerebral vessels, ultrasound diagnostics, CT, MRI. Each of these methods allows you to evaluate certain functions and diagnose neurological pathologies.
In most cases,
diseases of the brain are associated with its vascular system. It can undergo ischemia (persistent lack of oxygen), thrombosis, embolism, inflammatory processes and destruction. In order to detect
circulatory disorders, it is necessary to conduct a REG of the cerebral vessels, a photo of which will indicate the presence of pathology.
Indications for the study
Despite the fact that this type of diagnosis is widespread throughout the world, it is not done to everyone. To conduct a REG of the vessels of the brain, special indications are required. There are some pathologies in which this study is necessary.
- Headaches and dizziness of unknown origin, if the doctor cannot determine the cause of these symptoms, then a violation of cerebral circulation should be suspected.
- Impaired memory can be caused by an ischemic process, thrombosis.
- Atherosclerosis - with this disease, it is possible to close the lumen of any vessel in the body, including the brain.
- Arterial hypertension is dangerous for the development of hemorrhages and aneurysms.
- A head injury is one of the indications for conducting REG of the cerebral vessels, since it is dangerous with serious complications that must be diagnosed urgently.
- Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine can contribute to the development of encephalopathy.
Rheoencephalography
REG of cerebral vessels is a non-invasive research method based on the action of electric current. This method of assessing blood circulation is not dangerous or painful, so it can be reused. When a weak electric current passes through the tissues of the vessels of the brain, their resistance changes, based on this it is determined whether there is a pathology or not. The study allows you to evaluate blood flow and venous outflow, the ratio of which can vary with various diseases. This method allows us to give a conclusion about the elasticity of blood vessels, their symmetry, tone, filling and resistance. Decoding of REG of cerebral vessels includes an assessment of all these indicators and the degree of their deviation from the norm.
Research Technique
The method does not require special training. The only condition is the patientโs calm state during the study. The apparatus for REG consists of several ropes, on each of which an electrode is located. All of them join the surface of the patientโs head. It is possible to use rubber bands for applying devices, but it is considered more convenient to use special pastes to reduce the resistance of the skin. The places of attachment of the electrodes are the nose bridge, the region of the
mastoid processes, the projection of the temporal artery and the large occipital foramen. They allow you to assess the condition of the vertebral, internal and external carotid arteries, as well as nearby smaller vessels.
REG of cerebral vessels
In order to assess the blood circulation in a child, they prefer the method of rheoencephalography. This is due to the safety, security and non-invasiveness of this study. Indications are suspected cerebrovascular accident in infants and young children. The study is conducted on the same principle as in adults. The difference is that the child is sleeping at that moment. Reg is usually carried out after 1.5-2 hours after feeding the baby. The result is a conclusion on the blood supply to both hemispheres of the brain.
The most informative and safe method that has become widespread is the REG of cerebral vessels. Minsk doctors confirm this; equipping functional diagnostic rooms almost always includes a rheoencephalograph.
