Cucumber stepsoning - adding crops

Cucumbering
Pasynkovanie cucumbers - an occupation for many quite unusual, because, unlike tomatoes, this process for this type of vegetable crop is not so important. With crops, nothing bad will happen if you skip this stage. Therefore, without doing this work, it is quite possible to get a fairly decent crop. Although experienced gardeners believe that, in order to ensure normal development of the vegetable, as well as to stimulate its growth, it is necessary to carry out the pinching of cucumbers, which combine with blinding.

pinching cucumbers in a greenhouse
By its structure, the bush of this culture is a vine, independently attached to the trellis, mounted for the convenience of harvesting. Stepchildren are called superfluous, unnecessary shoots that pull useful substances from the whip, but there is no return in the form of a crop from them. Moreover, they prevent the formation of new ovaries. That is why it is necessary to delete them.

Breeders have come to the conclusion that these side shoots over thirty centimeters long reduce the yield from each bush by about two kilograms. The casing of cucumbers can be carried out in several known ways, leading to the same result.

In the first case, all unnecessary processes that arose in the whip, in its nodal part, are deleted. Another way is to remove them up to the first six leaves with the ovary. Such pinching of cucumbers is also used when only the first four nodes are blinded. This is done for the good formation of the bush, and also so that all the forces do not go only to the first fruits.

Most often, stepsoning of cucumbers in the greenhouse is carried out . To this end, sharpened scissors are used. Lateral branches with leaves and ovaries are removed very carefully and gently so as not to accidentally damage the plant.

Outdoor planting of cucumbers

Greenhouse owners must constantly monitor the appearance and growth of stepsons, since they not only often appear, but also grow quite quickly. If you allow these unnecessary shoots to grow arbitrarily and branch strongly, then most likely you can lose part of the crop. In addition, small cucumbers growing from the sinuses of the leaves may turn yellow and fall off quickly. Therefore, the stepsoning of cucumbers is most often carried out precisely in greenhouses.

Cucumbers

This process will be most effective when stepsons have not yet grown up completely. It is best to cut them in length from four to seven centimeters. At this age, they are still not able to draw a lot of useful substances from the bush, and the plant will tolerate the procedure quite painlessly.

Usually pinching cucumbers is carried out until half of July. However, if the plant is healthy, then you can start later. In this case, several lateral shoots should be left near the base of the whip, which will turn into full-fledged stems after the main whip dies. In this way, experienced growers increase the harvest time.

In general, it is believed that proper pinching of cucumbers in the open field leads to a reduction in the ripening time of the crop, and also allows you to get a larger crop.
