Motherwort is a very beautiful plant that can be found in the Caucasus, in Central Russia and Asia, and Western Siberia.
Grass sometimes reaches one and a half meters in height. Its straight roots turn into stiff, slightly pubescent stems. Motherwort leaves, dark green below and light above, are divided into several lobes. In July, motherwort flowers can be seen: lilac-pink ring-shaped inflorescences embracing the stem.
The plant contains many acids, including malic, vanilla, citric, ursolic. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, tannins, macroelements, glycosides. The value of the plant is so great that we specifically plant it on plantations.
To prepare medicinal preparations, the upper part of the grass is cut up to 40 cm long and not more than half a centimeter thick.
Tinctures and medicines are prepared from it, which help against a very wide range of diseases.
Most often, for medicinal purposes, tincture is used. Motherwort in its action is similar to valerian or lily of the valley, but much stronger than them.
For the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, cardiac neurosis, alleviation of menopause, intestinal colic, motherwort tincture is usually prescribed. Its use is recommended for epilepsy, insomnia, the grass heals wounds, cuts, light burns perfectly.
In addition to tincture, there is another dosage form of the drug - motherwort extract, which is sold in tablets or in liquid form.
Typically, pharmacies offer ready-made preparations of the plant, but if desired, they can be prepared independently. For example, tincture is easily prepared from motherwort and alcohol at home. Motherwort is poured with five parts of medical 70% alcohol, infused in a dark bowl for 11 days, filtered.
Motherwort treats not only heart disease and neurosis. It is useful for painful female bleeding, dysmenorrhea, and other gynecological disorders. To do this, 2 tablespoons of dry grass insist, pour two glasses of boiling water, insist 8 hours, and then drink before eating. To replace such an infusion, a finished drug from a pharmacy can be taken, which is taken in 30 drops. In summer, grass juice diluted with water can be used.
For general sedation, the same decoction or tincture is used. Motherwort in this case is recommended to drink four times a day, 30 minutes before meals.
With intestinal colic, contusion, neurasthenia, glaucoma, epilepsy, motherwort helps. However, independent treatment is not recommended for them: like any herbal preparation, it can cause allergies.
Without the advice of a doctor, perhaps you can only use tea from motherwort, St. John's wort, peppermint, chamomile, walnut. They drink it once a day, in the morning. This is an excellent remedy for vegetovascular dystonia.
In cosmetology, tincture is also used. Motherwort, rich in alkaloids, tannins and dyes, alkaloids, helps to cope with the problems of oily hair. To do this, 2 tablespoons of dry grass are first insisted in a liter of water for 2 hours, then this tincture is brought to a boil, cooled, washed with a head.
Baths with motherwort well treat abscess diseases, cleanse the skin, calm the nerves, normalize sleep. For their preparation, the grass is insisted for about an hour in a liter of water, then boiled, added to the bath.
If it is not possible to use dry raw materials, tincture can come to the rescue. Motherwort, bought in a pharmacy as a tincture or extract, is simply added to the water.
With eczema, motherwort grass can be mixed with a decoction of burdock root. It is best to take such baths at night, because they have a strong calming effect.
The duration of their intake should not exceed 20 minutes at a water temperature of 37 °.
Motherwort is contraindicated for people with individual intolerance and pregnant women.
