Recently, FSUE Russian Post has switched to international customer service standards . This implies, in addition to improving the quality of service and computerization and automation of the maximum number of mail processes, the use of such a new concept for Russians as a mail identifier. Its use helps not only to track all the items on the way of the postal item, starting from its receipt and before delivery to the addressee, but also to save information about it in the database. This greatly facilitates the search for missing mail items, and also helps the sender and recipient of a letter or a parcel in some way control the delivery process.
The internal Russian postal identifier is a number of 14 numeric characters, and is as follows: for example, 347922 (52) 00256 9.
By such numbers you can find, first of all, the exact place of departure of the parcel, parcel or letter. The fact is that the first 6 digits of this code indicate the zip code of the particular post office that received the shipment. Even if the sender indicated a different address on the parcel’s address label or accompanying form, the identifier of the postal item will allow you to accurately determine the specific point of departure. Such information can be very useful when it is necessary to find the sender, who for one reason or another is hiding from the addressee.
It should be noted that such numbers are assigned only to registered postal items, which include:
- Registered letter or registered parcel.
- A letter of declared value or a valuable parcel.
- Package.
- EMS shipping.
- A small package.
- International package.
These items can always be tracked and find out exactly when and to whom they were delivered. But simple letters and parcels are not assigned a postal identifier, so it’s virtually impossible to find out their fate after sending. This should be taken into account when sending important letters, documents, etc., because when sending them by simple mail there is a risk of losing them forever. Despite the fact that registered mail items cost a little more than simple ones, sometimes it’s worth overpaying for guaranteed delivery.
How to find out the mail id
Upon receipt of any registered postal item, the telecom operator must give the customer a check that indicates the address of the recipient, his surname (without initials), the recipient's postal code, the amount paid for forwarding, and the identifier itself. This check should be kept until the receipt of the parcel or parcel to those to whom it was addressed. After receiving the receipt of payment, the sender can find information about his mail in the database of FSUE Russian Post. It should be borne in mind that data about him will not appear in the database right away - usually this happens one to two days after sending.
After this period, information from each place of mail processing (usually central hub stations) is sent to this database and by entering the postal identifier specified in the payment receipt into the special section “Tracking mail items” on the official website of the Russian Post, it’s easy find out the location of your parcel, letter or parcel.
If you are not the sender, but the recipient of a letter or parcel, but nevertheless want to monitor his fate, you can request this information from the sender. Usually, all firms trading through the Internet network independently provide a postal identifier to the addressee, which allows not only to track the package, but also to file a complaint to the post office if the notice of the need to receive a shipment was not delivered to you, while the package was in the post office.
