However, the last position may not be required if the warehouse is small and does not involve the storage of heavy or voluminous valuables. But the head. warehouse must be a must! So what kind of position is this, what are the requirements for it and the responsibilities to be performed?
Warehouse manager is a specialist, without whom the work of the warehouse is impossible in principle. He is fully responsible for the functioning of the warehouse and directs the work of all other specialists. This post belongs to the category of managers, and the head is appointed to work directly by order of the head of the organization or enterprise. At the same time, it is mandatory to conclude a liability agreement with him .
The warehouse manager is required to have an appropriate education. The minimum requirements for a candidate for this position include specialized secondary education and at least one year of work experience in the respective position, or, with general secondary education, work experience of three years or more.

- The warehouse manager ensures the organization of the warehouseโs operation, its uninterrupted operation, and provides complete management of this process.
- He is obliged to provide all the necessary storage conditions for goods and other material values โโ(sanitary, hygienic, technological and others).
- The duties of the warehouse manager include the control of accounting for warehouse operations and the preparation of the necessary reports.
- He is obliged to ensure the safety of material assets available at the warehouse.
- The warehouse manager must monitor compliance with safety standards, fire safety and labor protection.
- If necessary, he is obliged to carry out advanced training of subordinates by organizing relevant activities and work tasks.
This position requires a thorough knowledge of the storage characteristics of certain goods, the ability to understand brands, types, grades, sizes and other characteristics of stored values, to know the consumption rates of materials. The warehouse manager needs knowledge of the contents of all job descriptions, regulations and other regulatory documents.
As a managerial employee, he needs not only to be able to manage loading and unloading and keep records of material assets, but also to know the basics of legislation to correctly resolve current issues and resolve labor conflicts. Nowadays, the ability to handle office equipment (fax, photocopy, etc.) and computer skills at the level of knowledge of specialized programs are important.
Among other things, he is entrusted with the duties of the rational use of storage facilities, the maintenance of warehouse equipment, inventory and tools, their timely repair, as well as the collection and return of returnable packaging to suppliers. As a person bearing all material responsibility for the warehouse entrusted to him, he must necessarily participate in all inventories (be a member of the inventory commission).
In addition to duties, the warehouse manager also has official rights. Their list depends on the specifics of the enterprise, but in general terms they are as follows:
- Signing of documents in accordance with their competence (warehouse and shipping);
- submission to the management of proposals for improving the activities of the entrusted area (warehouse);
- interaction with representatives of other structural divisions to obtain the necessary information and documents;
- acquaintance with draft decisions and orders for the area entrusted to him, expression of disagreement with a particular paragraph or decision, including the possibility of appeal in the established manner.
