How does asthmatic bronchitis develop?

Bronchitis is a very common disease of the bronchial tree, not only among adults, but also among children. The inflammatory process often affects only the mucous membrane of the bronchi, without affecting the deeper tissues. This is especially true for allergic lesions of the bronchi.

Asthmatic bronchitis often occurs as a result of a viral or bacterial infection in the body. Among the causes of the disease are called the effects of chemicals, as well as various kinds of allergens.

As a rule, the basis of the development of the disease is in chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane, the result of which are:

  • spasms of the smooth muscles of the bronchi;
  • swelling of the mucosa;
  • active production of thick mucus.

This condition leads to the fact that the lumens of the bronchi narrow in size, which leads to difficulties in transporting air to the alveoli. Due to this, shortness of breath appears , which is accompanied by paroxysmal cough. Sometimes asthmatic bronchitis leads to bronchial asthma.

Cough is known to be dry and wet. For allergic (asthmatic) bronchitis, a dry cough is characteristic, which appears after receptors are irritated by certain allergens. This can be house dust, pollen, chemicals, food preservatives or household chemical items, as well as exhaust fumes. And directly bronchitis with an asthmatic component develops when pathogenic bacteria and viruses penetrate into the lumen of the bronchi , which produce potent allergens.

As a rule, coughing attacks worry the patient at night. Just during this period, under the influence of the vagus nerve, bronchospasm occurs. There is a certain pattern: the worse a person feels during the day, the more signs of asthmatic bronchitis and asthma will appear in the early morning.

Chronic bronchitis with an asthmatic component has certain periods of exacerbation. The average duration of such exacerbations is approximately two weeks.

As a rule, a modern person is not a supporter of frequent visits to doctors. Therefore, many people prefer to cough themselves. Sometimes even almost successfully. However, the main mistake is that the disease is not cured, but rather aggravated. The situation is still the same: the gaps are narrowing, oxygen is transported with difficulty. If the bronchi are not treated, then asthmatic bronchitis will quickly develop not only into bronchial asthma, but also into bronchiectasis or pulmonary emphysema. And these diseases are very difficult to treat.

Therefore, if a cough bothers you for more than two weeks, there is no improvement, breathing during inhalation is especially difficult, you need to seek medical help as soon as possible so that the doctor prescribes treatment for you.

In order for asthmatic bronchitis not to develop and progress, it is necessary to treat colds and infections of the nasopharynx in time. If you are allergic to any substance, you should carefully avoid contact with it.

Modern scientists have come to the conclusion that proper nutrition has a beneficial effect on patients with asthmatic bronchitis and asthma. In addition to the necessary medications, a diet is now prescribed, in which special attention is paid to the use of fresh vegetables and fruits. According to studies, as a result, lung activity increases, which does not depend on the number of bad habits of the patient and the level of his physical activity. Vitamins C, E and beta-carotene have a positive effect in this case. They help to restore our respiratory organs and fight them with the disease.
