Arena destination
The Parc des Princes Stadium is the arena where football and rugby matches are held. Initially, the stadium was used as a velodrome. It was the final destination ("The Big Loop") of the Tour de France bicycle races. Until the end of the last century, until 1998, Parc de Prens was the country's main football arena, where the French national team played matches. And only with the opening of the new Stade de France stadium for the 1998 World Cup, did the Princes' Park lose the status of football arena No. 1. Currently, one of the strongest clubs in France and Europe, Paris Saint-Germain, plays home games here.
Stadium reconstruction stages
For the period of 1897, the arena consisted of one tribune, protected by a small visor. She had a capacity of 3,000 people. After the football team of the country began to play home fights at the Princes' Park, the question arose about the reconstruction of the structure in order to increase the audience. The first modernization of the stadium was completed in 1905. As a result, the arena began to accommodate 10 thousand fans. In the light of the 1924 Olympics, a secondary reconstruction of the stadium took place. This time he was able to accommodate twenty thousand spectators.
The third global modernization of the structure was carried out in 1932. Unrecognizably, she changed the very appearance of the arena. Large stands were erected (along the entire perimeter of the Park de Prens), and the number of seats was increased to 40 thousand. At the same time, two side stands had a weatherproof canopy.
In 1952, the stadium was equipped with artificial lighting. This contributed to the conduct of fights in the dark. In 1967, the arena was almost demolished, and a wide ring highway was laid in its place. Later, according to the project of the French architect Roger Taiber, they began the construction of a new stadium, “Park de Prens”, the construction of which cost 145 million francs.
In May 1972, a new arena was inaugurated. The first football match at the new stadium was the meeting of the Olympic teams of France and the USSR. To the disappointment of the French fans, the Soviet team won 3-1. In the period from 1905 to 1998, the French national team held 127 official games at the Parc des Princes.
To date, the main football stadium in Paris can accommodate 45,710 spectators. And since the UEFA Euro 2016 matches will be held here, the arena once again went through the stage of modernization, as a result of which it can host 54,000 fans. In the meantime, matches for the championship of France are played here, conferences are held, and stars of the modern stage are performing.

The football stadium in Paris is located near the Eiffel Tower (4 km). One and a half kilometers away is the famous French tennis complex Rolland Gaross. The nearby territory of the stadium itself is clean and well-groomed. There is no garbage, stray dogs and homeless homeless people. Everything is carefully monitored and guarded. In the immediate vicinity of the sports facility are the metro station, modern freeway, boutiques of sports products of the PSG club.
In general, the location of the arena "Park de Princes" is a green zone. According to the "Biodiversity" plan, even the roofs of urban houses are planted here, on which you can see the growing trees.
