History (briefly)

The main focus of the Scientific Center of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences has always been on the latest medical technologies - the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the most common diseases with special social significance. This is a stroke and its consequences, vascular dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, polyneuropathies, critical conditions in neurology, hereditary diseases of the nervous system and the like.

In the 90s, the Scientific Center of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences opens from the Ministry of Health of Russia the Scientific and Methodological Center for Multiple Sclerosis, and the Scientific Center that studies stroke. There, as in very few clinics in the world, new high-tech treatment methods began to be implemented. In 2006, a very important event happened: the reorganization of the Institute and the accession to it of the brain research institute. Thus, the Scientific Center of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences has become the largest institution in Russia, where they are engaged in clinical and fundamental neurosciences. A year later, the Research Institute of Neurology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences received its current name.

Back in the forties and fifties of the last century, a whole system of measures was developed at the research institute, which greatly helped the fight in acute epidemic diseases - encephalitis and polio.
