Chuck Palahniuk is deservedly considered one of the best writers of our time and one of the most scandalous writers of our day. Each of his works is a real scandal that no story is a complete provocation. In characterizing the characters, Palahniuk masterfully portrays human vices, bringing out the most terrifying qualities of human nature. For this grotesque, the audience loves his works, but only the most daring filmmakers undertake to film the novels of the writer. The most famous films based on books by Chuck Palahniuk: The Fight Club by David Fincher and The Suffocation by desperate newcomer Clark Gregg.
The cult project - “Fight Club”
In the history of world cinema, perhaps, there is no better project for a split personality than the Fight Club. It is the first film based on the book of Chuck Palahniuk. At the heart of the picture is the eponymous work of the writer of 1996.
Unfortunately, without revealing the intrigue, it is impossible to describe its main advantage. Throughout the timing, this provocative cult thriller by D. Fincher convinces the beholder that the characters of Edward Norton and Brad Pitt are two different people. Only at the climax does it become clear that extremist Tyler Durden is the alter ego of the protagonist. And all their dialogues, disputes and brawls occurred only in the subconscious of the hero Norton.
The second film adaptation - "Choking"
The second time Hollywood turned to the work of the writer 8 years after the premiere of the brainchild of Fincher, which emphasizes that films based on the books of Chuck Palahniuk, alas, are rare. In the film "Suffocation", the ex-actor Clark Gregg, who previously starred in the television series and the drama "In the Country of Women", acted as a director. The directorial debut as a whole can be called successful. A film adaptation of a 300-page novel of the same name lasts approximately 80 minutes. During this time, the director manages to demonstrate at an incredible speed all the main events of a literary source. The main character, Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell), a sexologist and a loser, earns a living by playing out attacks of suffocation in expensive restaurants. With the money earned by deception, the hero contains an insane mother (Angelica Houston).
The director of the debutant considered the need to correctly convey the tone and atmosphere of the novel by Palahniuk the most difficult in the work on the film adaptation. According to him, although the work is dominated by a gloomy satirical component, in fact, the book is also a black romkom. This ends the existing films based on the books of Chuck Palahniuk.

Perhaps in the near future the list of films based on books by Chuck Palahniuk will be replenished with several adaptations at once.
According to rumors, several works of the writer were included in the network of filmmakers, among them:
- The 2008 novel “Snuff”, which tells about the intention of porn star Cassie Wright to set a world record before retiring, having slept with six hundred men in a row. Fabian Martorell is going to stage a piquant story, Daryl Hannah, Thora Birch and Tom Sizemore are invited to participate in the project. The whole drama is based on the experiences of men crowding in anticipation of their turn. Although it is not a fact that the venturer herself will survive until the next day. By the way, the term "snuff" refers to a video of a sexual nature, ending with the death of the participant.
- The book "Rent: a biography of Buster Casey." An announcement was published on the writer's website stating that a certain studio had bought the rights to the film adaptation of the 2007 novel. True, the details of the transaction, the timing of the project is still unknown. "Rent" in the Russian translation means "the life of the punk messiah."
- The "Ghosts" of 2005 was among the most successful among future projects. He has already received funding. Although it will not be easy to film the novel, 23 stories are woven into its plot, some of which caused public fainting in the audience. Nevertheless, the film will be shot by Cohen Mortier, already working on the script.
"Lullaby"
The question of whether the film based on the book “Lullaby” by Chuck Palahniuk will be released is also open. The writer himself once stated that the Swedish visionary Rolf Johansson will soon begin to film the work, as he found the money and is engaged in the selection of actors. At one time, David Fincher was interested in the novel, but an agreement was not reached. The narrative of the book is twisted around the idea of the protagonist (reporter), who believes that the cause of infant death is a certain lullaby, the words of which are killed. The lyrics can be read in the anthology "Poems and nursery rhymes from around the world", freely available in all libraries of the country.
It is not known for certain when the next masterpiece will be shot, but I would very much like the “Fight Club” and “Choke” screen versions of the books of the outstanding writer not to end.
