Nothing helps to get into the spirit of the past like literature and films. Artistic and historical films have preserved the names of heroes for centuries.
"Andrei Rublev"
Many Soviet historical feature films have gained fame not only in the USSR, but throughout the world. One of the most famous masterpieces was the film by Andrei Tarkovsky “Andrei Rublev”, filmed in 1966.
The film covers 23 years of the life of the legendary icon painter. The time in which he lived turned out to be very difficult for Russia: the people suffered from hunger and disease, the cities and villages were destroyed by princely strife and raids of the Mongol-Tatars. Hope was needed like air. It was presented by Andrei Rublev, who created beautiful icons. And if his talent is still known, almost nothing is known about the life path of the genius himself.
The film consists of several short stories, which show the formation of the icon painter on the background of tragic historical events. Historical feature films rarely achieve such popularity. Russia as a background and scene in the picture is not. She became one of the main characters in the drama.
"War and Peace"
Russian historical feature films sometimes combine fictional events, intertwined with real facts. Among these paintings stands out “War and Peace” by S. Bondarchuk. This film was an adaptation of the novel of the same name by the Russian classic L. Tolstoy.
The main characters of the picture were members of the Rostov family, their close associates and friends. Growing up the main character Natasha fell at the time when a war broke out in his native country with Napoleon. For several years, the characters change almost beyond recognition. War forces them to rethink their views and beliefs. The viewer is given the opportunity to see the events of that time from different points of view: on behalf of a soldier, officer, women living in the rear. Famous Soviet actors took part in the creation of the film.
"Schindler's list"
Feature films have always been popular. Historical events in them were covered much more interesting than in textbooks. Therefore, the audience remembered. One of the best historical paintings in world cinema is considered the drama “Schindler's List”.
During the Second World War, concentration camps became real "death factories." Auschwitz stands out sadly among them. It is with this camp that the name of Oscar Schindler is associated. The German manufacturer decided to open a new production, which was facilitated by the unfolding war. Rich Jews gave money to Schindler, because they themselves did not have the right to use it, while the poor got a job for the opportunity to leave the ghetto. The manufacturer began to grow rich every day. But the war, which had previously evoked mainly positive emotions in him, began to unfold for him from a new perspective. The ghetto, in which the Jews lived, was decided to be destroyed, and its inhabitants relocated to a concentration camp.
Schindler appears from a completely different perspective. Seeing the grief of people, he did everything possible to save the life of at least those who worked in his factory. For the sake of this goal, he spared neither money nor strength.
Based on the events of the Second World War, the directors made wonderful films (historical and artistic). But the “Schindler's List” stands out among the rest especially vividly.
"Alexander"
Art films were shot about different eras. The ancients, whose historical trace was preserved in manuscripts and legends that have survived to this day, most often deserved immortality by victories in wars. The greatest warrior was Alexander the Great.
From early childhood, the young ruler was distinguished from his peers by ambition and will. The film reflects his path from early childhood to the last days. The audience will meet with Alexander's parents, see his rise to power, his first victories and defeats. Not only military glory is highlighted in the drama, but also his personal life. Many legends about Alexander the Great were used to write the script. To this day, this film remains one of the best among those that talk about the Ancient World.
"Kingdom of heaven"
Various feature films (historical) were shot about the Crusades . The adventures of the heroes were especially liked by the boys who tried to learn as much as possible about those times. Along with “Aivengo” and the biography of Richard the Lionheart, the film “Kingdom of Heaven” is also on this list.
The protagonist of the film was the young gunsmith Belian. After some events, he has to hastily leave his native lands and join the detachment of his father, going to Jerusalem. But in one of the battles a tragedy occurs - Belian’s father is mortally wounded. Before dying, the man manages to elevate his son to the rank of knight and takes an oath of allegiance from him to the king of Jerusalem.
The Royal Novel
Historical and historical films were shot not only about wars and legendary heroes, but also about peacetime. The basis for such paintings became beautiful and dramatic stories of love and friendship. The drama “The Royal Novel” is one of them.
The young Queen Carolina Matilda is unhappy: her husband, the ruler of Denmark, Christian VII, ignores any attempts by his wife to get closer and build a strong and worthy family. Where are he more attracted to dens, where he can afford to be himself. However, this situation does not suit the Queen Mother. She puts pressure on Carolina Matilda, forcing the unfortunate woman to feel guilty about every mistake of her husband. The life of a young beauty changes at the moment when the famous doctor Johann Friedrich Struenze comes to the court, a meeting with which will not only determine her future, but also the fate of all of Denmark.
An educated and educated man with progressive views quickly gains the trust of the royal couple. Climbing the career ladder, he gets the opportunity to translate his ideas into reality. But, alas, many of them were too progressive for their time. Struenze is saved from the pain of disappointment by her love for Queen Caroline Matilda, reciprocating his feelings. However, their happiness could not last long.
"Elizabeth"
There were not many women rulers in history. But, having come to power, they left a bright trace in the fate of their state. One of the most illustrious queens of the past was Elizabeth I Tudor.
Historical and historical films often begin their narrative from the childhood of a hero to show his formation. The painting "Elizabeth" was no exception. The infamous fate of Anna Boleyn, the Queen’s mother, made a great impression on the main character. Due to the tyranny of her father, the last ruler of the Tudor dynasty made a firm decision not to marry until the end of her life.
Elizabeth had to cope with many difficulties. But her rule not only brought peace to England, but also became a heyday. She was able to find a way to reconcile Protestants and Catholics, replenished the devastated treasury, and even managed to lead England to victory over Spain, the eternal enemy. The British few of their kings and queens appreciate as highly as Elizabeth.
Macbeth
Does not get tired to attract cinematographers creativity of Shespira. One of the last adaptations of his works was the film Macbeth.
The ambitious Duke of Scotland Macbeth met three witches who predicted him a glorious ascent, and then a dramatic fall. He was supposed to be king. However, Scotland already had a ruler, to whom Macbeth had respect.
The mind of a warrior is clouded. Prediction and ambition make him think about betrayal. Support for Macbeth becomes his wife. The young woman has already lost her child and is afraid to lose her husband now, because she is ready for anything so that Macbeth’s head is crowned with a crown.
This work of Shakespeare is considered the most dramatic, because no one else has so many victims and cruelty.
A great way to spend interesting time is to watch feature films. Historical ones also bring benefits, allowing you to develop and learn new things. Dramatic or happy events will make you look at your own life in a different vein.
