Gastroduodenitis in medical practice means a disease that caused an inflammatory process in the duodenum and stomach. Also, this disease in most cases is characterized by a restructuring and inflammation of the mucous membrane of these organs in a non-specific type and a violation of secretory and motor evacuation functions. Normal well-being and good mood for the patient can be ensured if, with a disease such as gastroduodenitis, treatment will be carried out in a timely and quick manner.
Unlike adults, in children this disease can be characterized quite privately by inflammatory processes on both organs, and not on each individual. Oddly enough, only a stomach or duodenal lesion is found in children in only 10% of all cases of diseases. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the duodenum by its nature has increased hormonal activity, as a result of which it can regulate the functions and functioning of the stomach, and in addition, the functions of other organs of the gastrointestinal tract.
Chronic gastroduodenitis
Treatment of gastroduodenitis must be started after the doctor has fully determined the form of the disease and the causes, that is, the factors that led to its development. It must be understood that a clear definition of chronic gastroduodenitis in medicine does not exist, there are only subtypes of this disease, depending on various factors and changes that this disease can cause.
First of all, according to etiology, that is, by origin, gastroduodenitis is distinguished into primary and secondary. Concomitant with another disease is considered secondary. According to the changes that are observed after the occurrence of gastroduodenitis on the mucous membrane, the disease is distinguished into superficial gastroduodenitis, the treatment of which is usually not very difficult, erosive or atrophic, and in addition there is a hyperplastic form, the name of which speaks for itself.
According to the results of a histological study, the disease is distinguished for gastroduodenitis with moderate, mild or severe atrophy. Depending on the course of the disease, gastroduodenitis in remission or exacerbation can be distinguished.
Symptoms of gastroduodenitis
During the chronic course of the disease, it is rather difficult or even almost impossible to distinguish the symptoms of this disease from other gastrointestinal diseases . But in its acute phase, the disease gives, if not highly specific, at least fairly definite symptoms, in particular spastic, aching pains in the epigastric region, which develop a couple of hours after eating and are given in the region of the hypochondrium or navel, nausea, increased salivation and a feeling of heaviness and fullness in the epigastric region.
In addition, since the main role in the development of this disease is played by the disruption of the duodenum, the release of its contents into the space of the stomach can cause an eructation with a bitter taste, as well as heartburn or even vomiting, with bile.
Gastroduodenitis - treatment
There is no special pill that would cure this disease, so you need to adhere to a number of recommendations in order to completely get rid of the disease in a couple of weeks. Firstly, bed rest is recommended for all patients , namely staying in bed for about 7 days.
Each patient must follow a contented strict diet, in particular, during the acute course of the disease, patients are entitled to table No. 1, and then table No. 5. The transition to a more nutritious and balanced diet is possible only during periods of disease remission, especially for patients who have a history of erosive gastroduodenitis, the treatment of which can be somewhat delayed, in contrast to simpler forms.
During the week, it is necessary to carry out a special three-component therapy, which will help get rid of Helicobacter pylori, which probably sat in the patient’s stomach. In order to reduce acidity in the stomach, selective H2 histamine blockers are used. In addition, patient treatment should include not only diet and medical care, but also physiotherapeutic procedures, stay in a sanatorium and physiotherapy exercises.
