They capture from the first shots and transfer viewers to an unknown, mysterious world. They hold in suspense, but usually end well: the main characters defeat evil, perform a feat or save the universe. Adventure movies, the list of which is presented in this article, are just that. They want to be reviewed, each time plunging into a new fantasy world.
Fairy tales
These paintings I want to highlight in a separate category. The best adventure films of this format are always colorful and exciting. They are interesting not only for their target audience - for children, but also for adults, as they are delivered with taste and deep meaning. For example, we all know the famous fairy tales from the series about the wizard boy. The first part entitled âHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stoneâ was released in 2001, the last âHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallowsâ - in 2011. All six episodes relate to the adventures of the little sorcerer and his friends - clever Hermione and eccentric Ron.

âLemony Snicket: 33 misfortunesâ was released on the big screens in 2004 and immediately won the hearts of children. At the same time, a cheerful and gloomy tale about the ordeals of three orphans, trying to find a new home, did not leave anyone indifferent. And these are not all the best films. The adventures of fairy-tale heroes were also professionally directed by the directors in all parts of The Chronicles of Narnia, the first of which saw the world in 2005, as well as in films about Peter Pan - the last interpretation was published in 2015 under the title âPeng: Journey to Netlandiaâ. It is also worth highlighting such tales: âCharlie and the Chocolate Factoryâ (2005), âLabyrinth of the Faunâ (2006), âThe Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassusâ (2009).
About space and the sea
Where else can you experience unimaginable adventures, if not in the vast expanses of water and intergalactic? Therefore, the pictures taken on this subject are many. For example, adventure films tell about the life of corsairs. The list begins with a âlong-playingâ story about Jack Sparrow. The first episode of "Pirates of the Caribbean" was released in 2003, the last is at the filming stage. The picture entitled âPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talesâ will be appreciated by viewers in 2017.

Among the films of this category, the recently released âMartianâ (2015) is highlighted - the story of an astronaut forgotten on the Red Planet, as well as the good old Independence Day (1996), âSea Battleâ (2012), âWar of the Worldsâ (2005 ) starring Tom Cruise. You canât forget about the cult fantasy saga âStar Warsâ: the first film was released in 1977, the release date of the last is December 18, 2015. Each episode, permeated by a common storyline, was a great success with the audience and could boast of huge box office.
Disaster Films
These paintings excite and make you think: what will happen to the planet if people continue to pollute the environment? The best adventure films of this plan carry a deep message to humanity: come to your senses, stop, correct the situation until a global catastrophe occurs. The picture âThe Day After Tomorrowâ (2004) is one of the most popular in this category. This is a story about how, as a result of irreversible climate changes, all living things on one part of the planet died from the huge tsunami and the ice age that came after it.

The film "Armageddon" (1998) is one of the best in this genre. There is a whole constellation of amazing actors: Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck. Heroes are trying to save Earth from a giant asteroid that can destroy the planet. The picture Interstellar (2014), about the drought on earth and the scientistsâ attempt to find ways to relocate humanity to another planet, can also boast a high rating. Good catastrophe films with elements of adventure are also âHeatâ (2007) and â2012â (2009).
Sci-fi and fantasy
Let's share these adventure films right away. Fiction is something that could very well happen in the real world under certain circumstances. In contrast, fantasy is filled with fabulous, mythological motifs. It does not seek to explain from the point of view of science the world in which events occur, its way of life and semantic content. Good pictures of the fantasy genre are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the first part of which was released in 2001, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (2010), about a boy who learned that he was the son of the Greek god, Timeless. The Ruby Book â(2013) - about time travel.

Adventure films, in which fiction is the main leitmotif, are of a completely different plan. For example, The Chronicles of Riddick. There are only 5 films on this subject, Vin Diesel played the main role in each. The first episode was released in 1999, the last in 2013. The main character of the saga, Riddick, travels in outer space, where various dangers and bloodthirsty opponents lie in wait for him. The Hunger Games trilogy (2012) is also a new science fiction film, where the fearless Katniss fights against the totalitarian system of the Capitol. All these films should be in the personal "piggy bank" of every person who loves adventure.
Other adventures
Of course, the world was struck by the picture "Everest" (2015), which recently appeared on large screens. The story of fearless climbers trying to conquer the top of a capricious and harsh mountain, sunk into the hearts of the viewer. The film shows the stunningly beautiful winter landscapes and small villages of Nepal, hiding in the kingdom of snow and ice. You can also watch such films on similar topics: âVertical Limitâ (2000), âTouching the Voidâ (2003) and â127 Hoursâ (2010).

Experts advise fans of ancient eras and ancient civilizations to pay attention to historical films. Adventures, battles and ominous secrets - all this can be found in the film "13th Warrior" (1999) with the participation of the charming Antonio Banderas. Qualitative works also recognized as Seven Samurai (1954), Gladiator (2000), Troy (2004), Robin Hood (2010) and others. The film âWalkâ (2015) is a little different. It is about the French tightrope walker who performed the legendary trick. The picture holds in suspense, forcing to empathize with the protagonist, who fearlessly balances in the midst of huge skyscrapers.
Russian films
In domestic cinema there are also such films. Russian adventures are distinguished by the fact that they are perfectly intertwined elements of crime, detective and action. Such are the paintings of Sergei Bodrov: âBrotherâ (1997), âBrother 2â (2000) and âSistersâ (2001). They won the love of the audience and positive reviews from critics. Do not forget about the work of Soviet filmmakers. The mini-series âIn Search of Captain Grantâ (1985) even today looks with great pleasure, and âThe Fairytale Journey of Mr. Bilbo Bagginsâ (1985) transfers to mysterious dark forests and foggy mountains, since this work has become a domestic version of the film adaptation of the fairy-tale the novel by John Tolkien, The Hobbit.

Separately, I want to highlight such paintings as âHearts of Three,â âMidshipmen, Forward!â, âD'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers.â All these films have subsequent parts in which the adventures of the main characters continue to the joy of the domestic audience. More than one generation of moviegoers is watching them with pleasure. These paintings, as well as all of the above, are the best adventure films. If you have not seen them yet, take the time - you will not regret it. Happy viewing.
