The modern rhythm of life is so dynamic that many people do not follow a diet, absorbing fast food products on the go, with long breaks in time, or prefer fatty and spicy foods. As a result, sooner or later pain or burning in the stomach appears. Injured sections of the gastric membrane undergo the development of an inflammatory-atrophic process. Most often, their reason is the increased acidity of the stomach, the appearance of which is facilitated by stressful situations, smoking and alcohol abuse.
Many people know that the human stomach produces hydrochloric acid, which makes gastric juice taste and chemical composition. Normally, the acidity of the gastric juice reaches 1.5-3 pH, however, the walls of a healthy organ are insensitive to this concentration, because nature has provided for its protection at the level of the mucous membrane. When this membrane is weakened as a result of infection or constant exposure to harmful substances, an increased content of free radicals appears in the body, and an increased acidity of the stomach occurs.
This indicates that the stomach produces excess acid and the acidity level (pH) drops below less than 1.5. The increased acidity of the stomach can cause gastroduodenitis and gastritis, diseases of the stomach and duodenum, and cancer.
Hyperacidity, symptoms
Only a gastroenterologist can determine the increased acidity of the stomach in a qualified manner. It will measure the pH in a laboratory way, by probing, or by intragastric acidometry. You should contact him immediately if they begin to bother:
- lack of appetite ;
- pain in the stomach or abdomen;
- temperature jumps;
- vomiting
- causeless nausea;
- heartburn;
- a feeling of indigestion;
- belching of sour taste.
After the examination, the doctor will diagnose and prescribe treatment in order to eliminate the causes of increased acidity of the stomach, eliminating which you can forget about digestive problems. Otherwise, the disease will progress, and symptoms of increased acidity of the stomach will appear more often, each time increasing strength.
Diet with increased acidity of the stomach
To help the body get rid of the unpleasant symptoms that bother with an increased acid content in the gastric juice, you can use the diet. The course of treatment, as a rule, is aimed at preventing the development in the stomach of processes of decay, fermentation, increased gas formation and exposure to its mucous membrane of harmful substances.
The selection of food quality should be given special attention to prevent poisoning, which can trigger an exacerbation of the disease. Eat at least six times a day, and in small portions. Spicy, pickled, smoked and fried foods should be discarded.
A diet with high acidity is aimed at ensuring the work of the stomach without load, therefore, it should consist of products:
- low in fat;
- sufficient calorie content;
- subjected to heat treatment;
- mostly liquid or rubbed.
From the daily menu it is necessary to exclude cucumbers, onions, vinegar, garlic, fresh bread, spirits and strong tea. Ketchup and borscht, rich in acids, as well as legumes, sausages, bacon, sweets should be banned.
The increased acidity of the stomach is restored with regular use of alkaline mineral water "Borjomi" or "Essentuki", which should be taken one and a half to two hours before meals. Potato juice also gives a good effect , which should be taken fresh.
