This is the ability to read the map correctly in order to understand exactly where you are in the real world. Orientation will help to find not only an unfamiliar address in a strange city, but also the necessary territory in nature - in a forest, steppe, desert or even water. It is not for nothing that this sport is considered useful for life, because the ability to use the map and understand it even in an unknown place will not let you get off the road in a new city, get lost in a hike or get lost while traveling.

But this does not mean that they are too easy to notice, since all KPs are arranged so that only a person who knows all the nuances of the card can find them. Orienteering rules allow you to hide numbers behind vegetation, buildings and objects of a different origin, the main condition is that all these obstacles be clearly marked at a distance. Another common trick to confuse the participant is a few checkpoints in one place. To take only the necessary KP, you need to carefully look at the serial and local numbers and always check the map legend.
Types of orienteering, common in Udmurtia
This sport is divided into various types. Orienteering, of course, takes place on a certain territory of the village. The center of the event was Saratov, or rather, the youth camp "Youth", which is located in this city. The competition was attended by more than a thousand inhabitants of the country.
Orienteering in Udmurtia

They are organized by the Udmurtia Orienteering Federation, an official company registered since 2010, the aim of which is to conduct various recreational activities. The center of competition in the republic was the city of Izhevsk. In this village, new health events are held every month, including tourism.
It is worth noting that orienteering in Udmurtia is quite diverse. Only in the current year, the list of competitions was replenished with forest meetings, various festivals, rogains, as well as all kinds of races. And in June, the championship for this sport - "Hopes of Udmurtia 2017" was already held. Competitions were held in the vicinity of the Yak-Bodinsky tract, and their distance was as much as 25 km.
