The Matthew family brought up six children. Modine was the youngest of siblings. Matt's childhood and youth took place in Midvale - Utah.

Matthew Modine first tried his hand at the cinema, when he worked in tandem with his father in an automobile movie theater. They played movies in the open. Thanks to this, young Matt from childhood decided that in the future he would connect his fate with the world of cinema.

The boy was so shocked by the picture that he finally established himself in the choice of his profession. After some time, Matthew and his family moved to a town called Provo, which is located near Utah. Here Matthew decided to go to a dance school.
