Process approach in management

The process approach to management was proposed by representatives of the administrative school of management . Trying to give a clear definition of its functions, they considered them independently of each other.

From another point of view, the process approach shows related management functions. In this case, management is considered as a system of measures, which is a continuous series of interrelated actions by which goals are achieved. And they, represented, in turn, by a certain sequence of actions, are called managerial functions, which together constitute process management.

The process approach to management in general consists of the functions of planning, motivation, organization and control, combined with the help of communication processes and decision-making systems. At the same time, management should be considered as an independent activity. It is endowed with the ability to influence a particular group of workers with the aim of directing work toward the achievement of the goal and the overall success of the organization.

The process approach to management is actively used to achieve the quality of work performed. The developers of the latest international quality certification standards (ISO 9000 series) emphasized that such quality can only be achieved if certain activities are carried out within a specific process.

For the purpose of successful functioning, an organization must determine for itself and subsequently manage interrelated activities. This happens when resources are used in the enterprise’s activities, the management of which is considered as the process of forming the corresponding transformation of inputs into outputs. Often, leaving one process directly is entering the next.

The process approach in management has a definite advantage, consisting in the continuity of management, which it provides at the border of individual stages within the framework of both one system and its combinations.

Using this approach within the management system, one can realize the importance of:

- understanding of certain requirements and their compliance;

- the need to study the process from a position of value;

- achieving positive results in the processes.

With a detailed review of quality, the process approach in management involves a detailed review of certain actions within the framework of a continuous technological process, the end result of which is the finished product. A large number of employees take part in it, who contribute to each product. The overall result of the production depends on the contribution of all participants. In other words, if at least one participant in the technological process makes a mistake, this also affects the overall result.

In the era of the general desire to achieve high quality, there is a need for a process approach while maintaining high productivity. To fully cover the main approaches to management, it is necessary to consider the basic principles for introducing approaches to the work of a modern organization.

As indicated above, in order to achieve a better result, activities and related resources should be considered as separate processes integrated into a business process. Its participants are all structural divisions and some company officials.

A business process involves a combination of several types of activities, with the help of which a result is obtained that has a certain value both for the organization itself and for external users (client, consumer or customer).
