The fact that elementary school is an important stage in the life of a student is an indisputable fact. Many parents, and what to hide, teachers quite recently believed that the main thing at this stage is to teach the child to count, write and read. Testing the success of the student was how well he mastered the skills given to him by the teacher.
But since 2010, the situation has changed, since GEF of the second generation began to operate in all schools in Russia, the first school took part in this experiment. The main difference between these standards from the previous ones is the orientation, mainly, on the personal development of the student and instilling in him the skills of practical application of knowledge.
First of all, teachers who have adopted the elementary school GEF of the second generation, use an activity approach in work , that is, training based on obtaining knowledge by solving scientific, cognitive or practical tasks. Testing of knowledge will now be carried out in an unusual way in which it is necessary to solve, write or read something, these standards are designed to determine how well the child is able to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, which is important for further education in secondary and senior schools, so for the future life in general.
Another important point is the increase in the student’s employment outside school hours. A few hours a week are allocated for continuing education classes. This does not mean that children who are already attending classes should leave them and do only what the teacher says. This requirement applies to those students who are not doing anything in their free time, and allows parents to not worry about where their child spends time. Thus, GEF of the second generation elementary school allows the student to develop his existing talents or just do what he likes.
In accordance with the modernization of education, a new program has appeared called the Promising Primary School, in which the Federal State Educational Standard has been put into practice. This is one of the best sets of textbooks today, which almost completely meets the modern requirements for the knowledge of students.
Before starting work on this program, teachers will take special courses. New standards will also help increase the material base of schools. The classrooms should additionally be equipped with new technologies, which now, unfortunately, is not observed everywhere, especially when it comes to rural schools.
For teachers, the thematic planning “Promising Primary School” has been specially developed , which facilitates the task of preparing classes for this set. The fundamental difference between this program is the orientation, to a greater extent, on the independent work of students. If a teacher had to “put” previously prepared knowledge into the heads of students, now schoolchildren need to acquire knowledge themselves, thereby activating cognitive activity and increasing motivation for learning.
It can be concluded that the GEF of the second generation, the elementary school has already successfully applied in practice, and we can observe the first results of this. Many parents are afraid of such standards, mainly because they themselves studied differently, and it’s rather difficult or conservatism to switch to another way of teaching. However, the children of the present must be mobile, ready for change, and in any situation must be able to find a decent way out. The development of these qualities is aimed at new standards that began to operate in the school. In addition to basic knowledge, it is important to develop the personal qualities of the child, so that later he can well navigate the surrounding reality.
