Producer Vitaliy Shlyappo: biography, career and personal life

Vitaliy Shlyappo is a screenwriter, general producer and one of the founders of YBW (Yellow, Black and White), which has been producing comedy series and programs in Russia for more than ten years: “Kitchen”, “The Last of the Magikyan”, “Give Youth”, “ Dad’s daughters ”and others. Recently, the company began to make Russians laugh in the full-length format: “Take a walk, Vasya!”, “Kitchen in Paris”, “That's what happens to me.”

Biography

Shlyappo Vitaliy was born in the Belarusian city of Vitebsk on June 18, 1975. After school, he entered Vitebsk State University, where he studied as a teacher of mathematics.

In the mid-1990s, while studying, he began to actively participate in KVN games (as part of the BSU team). After being elected captain, the team 2 times became the champion of the Higher League.

It was then that Vitaly realized that he wanted to connect his future with creative activity, and not with his profession.

Career

In 2002, Vitaly Shlyappo began developing the script for the satirical television program “Put Out the Light” at the Pilot TV studio in Moscow.

In 2003, he switched to REN TV, where he wrote scripts for popular comedy series and entertainment programs in collaboration with a former KVN teammate A. Trotsyuk. Among their joint works: “Students”, “Company History”, “Expensive Transfer”, “Faculty of Humor”, “Tourists” and others.

In 2005, Vitaliy Shlyappo switched to the STS channel along with most of the creative team of the former participant of KVN A. Murugov. There he became a developer, screenwriter and creative producer of many famous projects:

  • sitcoms “Think like a woman”, “Toys”, “Kitchen”, “The Last of the Makikyan”, “Traffic Light”, “Informat” and others;
  • comedy sketch shows "MosGorSmekh", "Give Youth", "6 frames", "One for All", "Unreal Story" and others;
  • humorous programs “Thank God you have come” and “Ural dumplings”.

In 2008, together with E. Iloyan and A. Trotsyuk, Vitaly became the founder and general producer of the holding Yellow, Black and White.

In 2009, in tandem with A. Trotsyuk, he won the TEFI television prize for the series “Daddy's Daughters” in the nomination “Screenwriter of a television art series”.

In 2011, he left the STS. Despite this, Vitaly continued to develop most of the projects specifically for this channel (Hotel Eleon, Kitchen, Ivanov-Ivanovs).

In 2017, the production company Vitaly Shlyappo sold a content library produced for STS to Solaris Promo Production.

On January 1, 2018, the new Super channel, owned by Gazprom Media, began broadcasting. His grid included, among other projects, several premieres from YBW, on which the company worked for several months.

Among them:

  • new series “Pirogov IP”, “Creators”, “Fitness”, “Out of Game”, “Psychotype”;
  • sketch show "In short";
  • show "Best Chef", "Blondes on the Tanks", "Funny Time", "Good Evening", "Top Model. Children";
  • “Office full of vegetables” (animation project).

New premieres are expected in the third quarter: “Call DiCaprio”, “Culinary Academy” (spin-off of “Kitchen”).

In total, on the Super channel, during the first two years, it is planned to show twenty premieres of exclusive production. The YBW team is responsible for creating this content.

Produces it for the channel by TCT Production studio, and the founders are Yellow, Black and White. They signed a long-term exclusive contract: they are responsible for channel marketing and programming.

To date, the entire YBW team (more than a hundred people) works only on this channel. On television, they no longer collaborate with anyone.

Personal life of Vitaliy Shlyappo

In September 2010, the wedding of Vitaly and his beloved Mary took place. The couple lives in Moscow.

In his free time, Vitaly Shlyappo likes to watch films directed by Mark Zakharov and revise cartoons about Moomins.
