The musical drama “8 Mile” (actors: Eminem, C. Basinger, B. Murphy, M. Fyfer, I. Jones) is an excellently filmed film project, almost unobtrusive, despite some banality of the story underlying the plot. This work is directed by Curtis Hanson, telling with all its realism and drama the story of the most ordinary white-skinned guy reading rap. It is no coincidence that the film is called "8 Mile", the fact is that it is a real highway that delimits the city and poor black neighborhoods. However, absolutely every person has his own “eighth mile” - the last frontier, a kind of psychological boundary between who we are and who we would like to be. To cross this line is not easy, and the movie tells about this.
Plot
The drama "8 Mile" (actors and roles were elevated by fans as cult) tells the story of the life of Jimmy Smith Jr. - a gloomy guy from Detroit. He lives in an area dominated by the African American population, so the hero is obsessed with rap culture and has the nickname Rabbit. The protagonist works at the factory, lives in a trailer with his mother, her friend and sister, and he devotes every free moment to writing texts. The guy regularly participates in rap battles, which suits his buddy Future, but Jimmy does not manage to catch the desired emotional wave. The battle gives all everyday life and problems as a result of a boy, but without using his fists, with a recitative.
The film was doomed to success, as movie stars and world show business were involved in the movie “8 Mile”. Professional actors were pleasantly surprised by the demonstrated dramatic talent of rap artist Eminem.
Debut role in the big movie
Film critics prophesied decent rolling fees for the film and expected an excellent soundtrack. Ideas were put forward that Eminem would be nominated for an Oscar for his debut in a big movie. It didn’t get to the prize, but the rap artist got into the role so elegantly that he looked very organically in the image of the Rabbit. The second most important feature of the picture “8 miles” is the actors, the first is music. Eminem tells a biography of himself rather peculiarly. He is great in episodes of rapper battles (fights). Observing his outstanding talent and determination, the viewer comes to understand the reasons that led him to the musical Olympus. Compared to the movie works by Jennifer Lopez (“Enough is enough for me”) or Mariah Carey (“Splash”), he is simply amazing. Perhaps because the film "8 Mile" is a hundred times more serious than the comedies listed above, which do not lead to philosophical reasoning.
90s Sex Bomb in 8 Mile Drama
Actors, whose photos adorn the picture, enjoyed shooting with the 90s sex idol Kim Basinger. The actress did not hide her age-related changes (wrinkles), revealing to the viewer her true appearance. Basinger demonstrated a striking spectrum of all conceivable negative emotions in a heartbreaking dramatic performance. Sex bomb of the 90s became a real decoration of the movie "8 Mile." The actors did not hide their admiration for Basinger's professionalism.
Alex
Actors of the film "8 Mile", who performed secondary roles, were inferior in priority to coloring. For example, Brittany Murphy, who was clearly lacking in drama. Her heroine Alex does not cause special emotions, humbly remaining in the background in all respects. It is similar to the gray wall of Daytroit, merged into a single whole with the environment. Just a little cute blonde in the world of burning problems.
Amateur movie
With all the endless positive reviews of film critics and enthusiastic reviews from the audience “8 Mile” (the actors did not deny this fact) - the movie is an amateur. It does not represent significant artistic value. Fans of rap culture will rather appreciate the tape. Moreover, the main thing in the film is not the plot and direction, not even the casting and dramatic talent of the performers, but the music. It is she who creates the right atmosphere, mood. All compositions are very high quality and wonderful. And the film gives the understanding that the "eighth mile" is absolutely in all of us, a person is divided by the border of the present and the desired beauty. Therefore, the movie can be recommended for viewing to everyone, regardless of musical predilections.
