We all know the proverb that answers the question of where the truth is born. “In dispute,” anyone will answer. And where did this statement come from? From the Middle Ages, when the main method of preparing for exams and conducting them in schools was debate.
Such scientific disputes were called disputes. This is a certain set of rules that requires the student to be able to put forward a certain thesis and prove it using arguments. He was opposed by opponents who sought to find evidence of false statements and cited their counter-arguments. The master assessed the outcome of the dispute, acting, in fact, in the role of a judge. He determined whose arguments were weighty.
Disputes are some formal way of conducting a debate. There were rules in the Middle Ages: references to written authoritative sources were taken as arguments, and the evidence of each of the parties was subjected to careful analysis. The purpose of the debate was to establish a scientific or theological truth. Using this method, disputes between different faiths were resolved.
Main conditions
Can any dispute be called a dispute today? A public discussion of a problem (scientific, public or religious) should take place subject to a number of conditions:
- Before the discussion begins, participants should have a good understanding of the subject of the dispute, the problem that will be put on the agenda.

The important role is played by the correct choice of the leader, which will create the necessary mood and atmosphere of goodwill and will not allow participants to deviate from the main topic of discussion. It is advisable that a well-trained adult lead the discussion.
With proper use of this form, all participants:

- learn to express and justify their opinion;
