In 2004, the 4-episode project "Saboteur" was released on television. It was enjoyed by many fans of military historical cinema and became a kind of television classic. Such success contributed to the fact that after 3 years the sequel was withdrawn. What was this series about, what artists played the main roles in it, and how did viewers and critics perceive the sequel? Let's find out about it.
The film "Saboteur 2. The end of the war"
Unlike "Saboteur", his sequel consisted not of 4, but of 10 episodes. This allowed us to examine in more detail the fate of the main characters, not only in wartime, but also after the Victory.
In addition to increasing the timing, there were some other changes in the project. First of all, this is the new director of the film "Saboteur 2. The End of the War." If the first picture was shot by Andrey Malyukov (“We are from the future”, “Grigory R.”), then Igor Zaitsev (“Yesenin”) was assigned to work on the continuation.
The rest of the sequel to "Saboteur" was a full continuation of the original picture.
Plot
Like the first mini-series, "Saboteur 2" was based on the works of Anatoly Azolsky. However, this time the time interval of events is much larger - 1943-1948.

After returning from another operation, Kaltygin learns the truth about Bobrikov’s parents (they were Soviet spies in pre-war Berlin, but because of the denunciation of their neighbor Frau Vogel repressed them). Offended by the lies of his comrades in arms, he refuses to work with them.
Because of this, for some time Bobrikov and Filatov work together, and they themselves begin to train novice saboteurs. But in the future they manage to reconcile with Kaltigin.
After the victory, Lesha Bobrikov manages to achieve what he wants: to get to Berlin and find Frau Vogel. At first, the hero wanted to take revenge on her, but in the end, pity awakens in him, and he helps the woman and her daughters escape from Soviet soldiers. At the same time, Lesha himself also decides to escape to Switzerland. However, he comes across and is sent to a Soviet prison camp.
Lenya Filatov, because of the misconduct of a friend, also almost ends up in prison, but the former authorities help him to escape. Returning home, Filatov gradually gets used to a peaceful life and starts a relationship with a nice girl named Anya.
Kaltygin ends the war with the rank of major. However, after everything experienced, he ends up in a hospital with a mental disorder.
After the war in the USSR, rampant crime begins, Kaltigin and Filatov are instructed to enter the fight against it. To do this, Bobrikov is released from the camp to help them, and, united, friends enter into battle with a new enemy.
"Saboteur 2. The end of the war": reviews
At one time, “Saboteur” was very warmly received by the audience and earned several prestigious Russian awards: “TEFI” and “Golden Eagle”. However, his sequel was received less enthusiastically. One of the main causes of dissatisfaction is the extreme implausibility of what is happening. Most of the exploits of the main characters are so unreliable that even technically less savvy spectators noticed this.
Also in reviews of the painting there is often criticism of the so-called plot holes. The fact is that, striving to accommodate events of 5 years in 10 episodes, the scriptwriters significantly reduced the script. And as a result, many actions of the main characters remain unmotivated and incomprehensible.
At the same time, there are practically no complaints about the work of the main trinity of actors in the film "Saboteur 2. The End of the War" (2007), since they perfectly played their roles and received a lot of praise.
The only thing that caught many spectators was the perfect “Berlin pronunciation” of Bobrikov. In fact, the performer of this role - Kirill Pletnev - speaks German with a very noticeable Russian accent, and it catches the eye, as in the first mini-series.
In addition to all of the above, the second "Saboteur" is often criticized for the "ripped off" plot from another military movie, "In August 44th."

After reviewing the plot and reviews, it is worth learning about the leading actors. Although all the events are concentrated around the adventures of novice saboteurs Filatov and Bobrikov, the audience especially remembered their teacher - Grigory Kaltygin - performed by Vladislav Galkin (1971-2010).
As you know, this actor managed to make a career precisely thanks to the roles of the military ("In August of the 44th", "Special Forces", "72 meters", "Kotovsky", etc.). At the same time, there are also “civilian” roles in his filmography. For example, the driver Sashok from "Truckers" or the poet Homeless from "Master and Margarita" Vladimir Bortko.
As for the hero Galkin in the second "Saboteur", then in the new series he manifests himself on the other hand. Not just as a valiant warrior and a good friend, but also as a man in love.
Which actors played the roles of Filatov and Bobrikov
Pupils of Kaltigin and brothers in arms were played in the film "Saboteur 2. The End of the War" (2007) by actors Alexey Bardukov (Leonid Filatov) and Kirill Pletnev (Alexey Bobrikov).
For Bardukov, work in "Saboteur 1, 2" was a real breakthrough in his film career. After that, he began to act in such famous projects as “At the Game 1, 2”, “Metro”, “Club of Happiness” and others.
But for Cyril Pletnev, "Saboteur 2. The End of the War" was one of many projects in which he played a man with epaulets ("Soldiers 3", "Admiral", "Desantura. Nobody but us", "Pop", etc. P.). And the first role brought him the main role in the television series Taiga. Survival Course ”, which was released back in 2002.
Today, Pletnev not only starred in many other roles (Love-Carrot 2, Sakura Jam, Mom Detective, Sky of the Fallen, Love with Restrictions, Viking, Friday), but tries himself as a director. So, in 2017, his first full-length movie “Burn!” Was released.
