The future Belarusian film director is the son of a famous painter, therefore, literally from the cradle he absorbed a love for the beautiful, art - theater, painting, cinema and literature. The visionary was born at the end of March 1940, so his childhood, adolescence and growing up coincided with a chaotic time - a period of hopes and upheavals, because this is the time when the bloody war ended. Post-war Minsk, poverty, devastation and a lack of basic necessities influenced the formation of the creative style of the cinema worker. But no troubles and problems did not affect the dream of the young Dmitry Zaitsev, who decided to make cinema his professional career.
According to the director, the time from the moment of his enrollment in the operator faculty of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography and until the completion of his studies seemed to merge into one endless beautiful sunny day. After all, not every layman has a unique happy chance to make his hobby a profession.

A separate niche in the director’s creative biography is occupied by the film The Flock. The drama touches on the eternal problem of fathers and children. This is a story about the trust of parents, about children growing up surrounded by all kinds of temptations, uncontrolled information flow and, it would seem, easy money.
The director managed to find the lead actor in the Minsk minibus. Artyom had never acted in films before the film "The Pack" and at first considered Zaitsev's offer as a practical joke. But soon the student of the Minsk Institute of Management had to play stage scenes with the most popular Russian performer Sergei Garmash. Such impartiality in acting casting, the ability to work with non-professional actors once again confirms the remarkable talent and professionalism of the director Dmitry Zaitsev.
