Berik Dondarrion: Description of the Game of Thrones Character

A fan of knightly tournaments and an immortal warrior, Berik Dondarrion is one of the most interesting secondary characters in the series Game of Thrones. He appeared in several seasons. The scenes with his participation were remembered by the audience for their brilliance.

How it all started

The first season the fans will remember the scene where Berik Dondarrion fulfills the order of Edward Stark to capture Grigor Cleagan. The authors of the picture did not show a battle, but rumors began to circulate about the house that the hero died during execution, and his people formed the Brotherhood without banners. This was the first death of the character recorded in the battle at Shutovskiy Ford.

His eternal friend Priest Toros resurrects him, and after that they are not shown for a long time on the screen. The next exit took place in the third season, when Sandor Cligan (โ€œDogโ€) along with Arya and Jendry are captured by the fighters of the fraternity. Here, Berik Dondarrion calls the battle of his sworn enemy and receives a mortal wound from him. Once again, Toros had to resort to the power of fire in order to resurrect a friend for the sixth time. Before that, he had died four times.

Sixth season

For two seasons, he did not appear in the center of the character's plot, but with the onset of the season, the Brotherhood without banners made itself known again. One of the members of the Order of Lim attacked defenseless citizens with whom Sandor Cligan lived and worked. The latter tracked them down, but they were already ready to accept their deserved punishment by hanging. In the TV series Game of Thrones, Berik Dondarrion sentenced them and allowed him to be executed by Kligan. After that, the Dog decided to share their meal with them, where an interesting conversation ensued.

The immortal knight offers Sandor to join them, because winter is coming, and with it the battle for the survival of people. Thoros convinces him that revival is granted to the knight for a reason and that something really awful is coming. The brotherhood should play a role in this, because it was so ordained by the gods. After that, Berik notes the courage and fighting qualities of Kligan as an excellent fighter. The Dog did not respond to this proposal, and the scene was immediately interrupted.

Legendary immortality and further fate

In the series Game of Thrones, the revitalization of Dondarrion has a logical explanation. In this world, there is a religion of worship of the Lord of Light. This deity can return a person from another world through his priests. These include Toros, who, after the first revival of a comrade, managed to persuade him to his religion. After the first death, he was inflicted lethal wounds four more times until the moment of the duel with Cligan.

He managed to die from a bow, an ax, a dagger and hanging in captivity from the soldiers of the Lanisters. Each time, Toros saved him, but the process has its drawbacks. After each revival, wounds remain, hence the lack of an eye.

The role of Berik Dondarrion is played by actor Richard Dormer, starting from the third season. In the first episodes of the series, the immortal knight appeared in one episode, and then the hero was played by David Michael Scott. In the future, the appearance of Dormer can be expected in some episodes, because the Brotherhood without banners should play its role in the battle with white walkers and their leader.
