In the modern world, each of us, one way or another, is faced with various kinds of bleeding. Most often these are nosebleeds, as well as those caused by trauma to the skin. There are other, more rare forms: intestinal, uterine, pulmonary, hemorrhoidal and others. In addition, prolonged (chronic) bleeding can occur, for example, with Werlhof disease, with aplastic anemia and capillarotoxicosis, which result in generalized bleeding.
In such situations, hemostatic tablets or similar injectable agents find their application. The latter are most often used by medical workers both in ambulance teams and in hospitals. Hemostatic tablets are mainly used in clinics, as well as at home.
What is the effect of such drugs based on?
As mentioned above, bleeding most often develops as a result of damage (trauma) to tissues and blood vessels. In the process of stopping bleeding, a whole complex of factors is involved, which are triggered by the cascade type. This means that some factors are formed as a result of the interaction of others and so on. As a result of the absence of any factor or disruption of its work, the cascade of hemostatic reactions stops, which ultimately leads to incessant bleeding. It is in such cases that the first possible help is hemostatic pills.
The most popular remedy is vicasol. This drug is used with a low content of prothrombin (one of the factors of blood coagulation). A reduced amount of prothrombin is most often caused by an insufficient vitamin K content in the body. Vikasol makes up for the lack of vitamin and normalizes blood coagulation. These hemostatic tablets are used for cirrhosis, jaundice, hepatitis, menopause and ulcerative bleeding.
The effect of the drug develops after twelve to eighteen hours. The use of vicasol is contraindicated in the acute period of myocardial infarction, as well as with thrombophlebitis.
The next most popular hemostatic drug is etamzilate. This pharmaceutical preparation is indicated for capillary bleeding, including for stopping bleeding from tissues and organs after surgical procedures. With success, this tool is used to stop bleeding from the nose and gingival bleeding. These hemostatic drugs base their action on enhancing the connection between the blood vessel endothelium and platelets. This, in turn, stabilizes the capillary walls, reducing their permeability.
Ascorutin is another hemostatic pill. The effect of the use of this drug develops after several days of administration. Ascorutin strengthens the walls of capillaries, reducing their fragility and permeability. In addition, this drug makes up for the deficiency of vitamins C and P, has an antioxidant and radioprotective effect.
Hemostatic drugs during pregnancy are most often represented by the ones listed above, as well as a diet, which is actively used in violation of menstruation (heavy bleeding).
Thus, it is worth summing up and saying that there are a huge number of drugs that somehow help to stop the bleeding, but all of them are effective and effective only in the case of competent and targeted use. That is why it is so important not only to eliminate bleeding, but also to know the reasons for which it developed, or the reasons for the violation of natural hemostasis.
