Katherine instills in one of the schoolgirls the desire to attack the younger Lockwood, while defending himself, he accidentally kills her. So Tyler activates a curse that makes him turn into a wolf every full moon.

Tyler and Klaus

An amazing fate awaits such a bright hero as Tyler Lockwood. “The Vampire Diaries” is a series in which the character manages to turn not only into a werewolf, but also into a hybrid endowed with the capabilities of a werewolf and a vampire at the same time. By activating the previously dozing werewolf gene, the hero attracts the attention of the thousand-year-old vampire Klaus Michaelson, who comes to Mystic Falls at the end of the second season. Klaus needs Tyler for a sacrifice in a ritual that will allow him to turn into a hybrid. However, from this fate the character is saved by Damon Salvatore, who frees him a few hours before the ritual.

Klaus still manages to turn into a hybrid, after which he tries to create an army of creatures like himself. Tyler becomes the first werewolf that Michaelson manages to make a hybrid. The original vampire expects devotion from him, but Lockwood rebels against his creator. Tyu manages to break the connection with the creator, but he achieves this at the cost of his own mother’s life, which the angry Klaus kills. Lockwood's attempt to avenge Michaelson for Carol's death fails.

Relationship with girls

At the beginning of the season, Tyler Lockwood is the boyfriend of the girl Wicky, who is the sister of Matt. He prefers to hide these relationships from others, as his parents would never have approved his relationship with a girl from a poor family who is forced to work as a waitress. Jeremy Gilbert, also in love with her , competes with him for Wicca's love.
