One of Kozma Prutkov ’s aphorisms says: military people defend the fatherland. And it is true. The history of recent decades clearly shows on the example of other states that only a strong and well-aware army can counter the numerous threats from countries that, perhaps today, do not express their hostile intentions, but are always ready to take advantage of Russia's weakness if they suddenly feel it .
Our country has a vast territory and a long border. Like any other superpower, Russia has geopolitical interests, which sometimes cause the need for military intervention both within the country and abroad, and any army operation requires high qualification of military personnel, their skills and psychological stability, and just courage. For one year, a soldier is sometimes not even able to master the entire technical base of the material part. Service in hot spots does require special skills and personal qualities.
All this applies equally to psychological preparation. Yes, Russian youth is able to defend the national interests of our country and is even ready to die for them, but does the state have the moral right to demand this from the boys? The question is rhetorical. Only a contracted service in hot spots can decide who will voluntarily risk their lives if necessary.
And ordinary, sergeants and foremen gradually become professionals, and sometimes it takes more than one year to comprehend military affairs. To become such a military, it’s not enough just to write a statement with the words “I want to serve on a contract”, you need to pass a multi-level selection, including psychological, then go through a training course and gain practical experience in the armed forces. By 2017, the number of professionals in the Russian army should exceed 425,000.
Hot spot contracting is attractive to many because of the high cash allowance premiums. They are different, for example, in Kosovo, the Russian military receives at least thirty-six thousand rubles a month. The salary of a soldier serving in the 201st motorized rifle division on the territory of Tajikistan is more modest; considerable money is paid for the performance of military duty in the Chechen Republic. This is the risk charge.
Not everyone understands that contract service in hot spots just for the sake of money is not the best way to make money. Therefore, a three-stage selection of candidates has been introduced in the military commissariats.
The initial stage includes a self-test, which anyone can pass by answering questions from the website of the Ministry of Defense, and an interview at a selection point.
Then a preliminary selection is made, during which it is determined in what type and type of troops the candidate may be most useful to the army. Then personal data is checked, including the degree of loyalty, law-abidingness, as well as the health of the applicant and his psychological condition.
All data obtained become the basis for in-depth selection and decision-making on the suitability of a candidate for service in the Armed Forces.
A soldier who has passed such an inspection is sent to the training unit, and there is no guarantee that he will certainly be waiting for contract service in hot spots. So anyone who thinks that by writing a statement, he will immediately receive weapons and go to the war zone, may be disappointed.
