“Can't be”: actors starring in the immortal comedy of L. Gaidai

In Leonid Gaidai’s comedy “It Cannot Be,” the actors show the audience ridiculous life situations that anyone could get into. Of course, there is something more inherent in this satirical film: it ironically ridicules human frivolity and stupidity. But fooling Soviet people was not accepted, so much of Gaidai’s work is veiled by excellent directorial and acting work. Who helped Leonid Gaidai to realize his plan?

The film “There Can't Be”, the actors and whose roles will not leave anyone indifferent, was shot on the basis of several works by Mikhail Zoshchenko. Zoshchenko is known for his witty satire and non-trivial humor. And of course, this topicality inherent in the works of the famous writer, migrated to the script created by Leonid Gaidai for his film.

The comedy “It Can’t Be” consists of three movie novels, which are united only by the fact that its heroes are ordinary Soviet people with their advantages and disadvantages. But since the work is humorous, then, of course, weaknesses come to the forefront, so that the viewer can freely laugh at the stupid actions of the main characters.

In the film “It Can't Be” the actors were involved the very best that could be found in the Soviet Union. But most importantly, they were ideally suited for the roles assigned to them. This was a peculiar talent of Gaidai: he very accurately determined the types of his heroes and clearly saw who would play this or that role best.

The great director was helped to write the script by Vladlen Bakhnov, who was the constant co-author of Gaidai during his work on the paintings “The Twelve Chairs”, “Ivan Vasilievich Changes the Profession” and “Sportloto-82”.

The film “Cannot be” was shot with the support of the Mosfilm film studio by cameraman Sergei Poluyanov. The music for Gaidai’s comedy was written by Alexander Zatsepin, who immortalized his name while working on musical accompaniment for the films Sannikova Land, The Woman Who Sings, The Twelve Chairs, and many other cinematic films.

The first short story that the viewer sees when watching Gaidai’s comedy is Crime and Punishment. In the film “It Can't Be”, the actors make fun of the weaknesses of their heroes. In the first short story, the head of Soviet stores in a collective image of Gorbushkin (Mikhail Pugovkin) gets a good deal.

Gorbushkin is unclean. Therefore, when he receives a summons to appear at the investigator, the man begins to panic: he is sure that he will be put in prison. Gorubshkin’s wife (Nina Grebeshkova) has the same opinion. Therefore, when the spouse goes to the police station, Anna Gorbushkina develops vigorous activity without even asking her husband for permission. What for? After all, the thing is already over!

Anna divorces her husband, sells all the property, and already even finds herself a new suitable party in the person of her neighbor (Mikhail Svetin). And all this woman cranks in one day. At the sale of Gorbushkin’s property, his brother-in-law (Vyacheslav Nevinniy) profits well. It is impossible to describe the horror of the main characters when Gorbushkin himself violates their idyll, returning at the end of the day from the station where he was called only as a witness.

The novel “Funny Adventure” is dedicated to unfaithful husbands and wives. In the film “It Can't Be”, the actors and the director could not help touching upon such a burning topic, because you can joke about this endlessly.

In the center of the plot are two married couples and two more characters. All of them secretly meet each other, despite the marriage ties that bind some of the heroes. Everything secret becomes apparent when unfaithful husbands, wives and their lovers, by absurd coincidence, meet in the room of the same communal apartment. Now they have to make a difficult decision about what to do next with their confused personal life.

Such actors as Oleg Dal, Svetlana Kryuchkova, Mikhail Kokshenov, Natalya Selezneva, Evgeny Zharikov and many others were involved in the novel "Funny Adventure".

Novel "The Wedding Event"

The novel “The Wedding Event” is dedicated to the incredible story of Vladimir Zavitushkin (Leonid Kuravlev), who hastily decided to marry the girl, but does not remember her name or her appearance.

Wandering around his own wedding, arranged in a communal apartment, the hero of the film finds it difficult to recognize his own bride (Valentina Telichkina). The film “Can't be” ends with a grand scandal when Zavitushkin takes his bride for his mother-in-law and publicly insults her. In addition to L. Kuravlev and V. Telichkina, Lyudmila Shagalova, Georgy Vitsin, Savely Kramarov, Svetlana Kharitonova and Sergey Filippov also appeared in the latest short story.
