Truth is difficult, and almost always. But there are people in the world who are born with a heightened sense of justice. To tell them the truth and breathe are synonyms. The only problem is that everyone has their own truth. Let's talk today about who is the reproving one. This is our subject of study today.
Etymology: face, face, mask
It’s good when you can touch the roots. Thanks to the dictionaries, because it is they that give us such an opportunity.
The verb “expose” the genealogy leads from the Old Slavonic. The verb owes its existence, on the one hand, to the prefix, and on the other, to the word "lychee". As it is easy to understand, the most important noun here is “face”. And the verb itself means "show the true face." How can one not recall the word “mask”, that is, “mask”. When a person exposes, he tears off the mask, showing others the true face of the object.
A convict is one who speaks the truth, reveals the true state of things. The language is attached to its roots more than some people, therefore, this meaning has been completely preserved in our country. But when we move from the etymological dictionary to the explanatory, many will be surprised.

Of course, sometimes seekers of justice are tame dogs of the powerful. For example, henchmen of the authorities who are happy to reveal the secrets of those who work with them side by side. In slang, such people are called "informers."
For illustration, you could choose any film or book, in the center of which a charming truth-teller. It seems that the young Tom Cruise as Lieutenant Daniel Caffey is quite consistent with this image. You need to remind the plot at least a little to understand the seriousness of the game.
The film tells about the murder that occurred at a military base in Guantanamo. Two soldiers are blamed. The lawyers of the division decided that they applied the “red code” to the deceased - an unregulated punishment system. Daniel Caffey is a novice lawyer who does not like court hearings. Compromise is his main weapon. And it is precisely such a person who is chosen to protect the interests of soldiers. At first, he acts according to an established scheme: he offers a compromise possible in this situation. But then a convicting subject wakes up in him (meaning this word is known to be). It takes courage to expose
Invented stories and real ones prove: the life of a person seeking the truth is difficult. There is little justice in the world, or rather, it is relative. Equity criteria depend on financial condition and social status. A man with money almost always finds things right. Those who are not so lucky in life are keenly aware of the disadvantages of one or another social structure.
This is partly why the television series Colombo is so popular. The strange but charming lieutenant is not rich, he gives the impression of a simpleton, but at the same time he pays tribute to the wealthy and those who have lost their conscience. Not all viewers feel the class moment, but it is quite clearly spelled out. But it’s one thing when a detective can show by his example what “convicting” means, and another thing is when an ordinary citizen starts a war against the powers that be. And to be truthful, in real life such an investigator as Colombo would have been removed from the path long ago, not paying attention to any means. The reader probably understands what it is about.
A few words in defense of lies
When talking about lawyers or police officers, it is clear why they should be honest and incorruptible, although this does not always happen even in films. But for some, legal search is not good. Speech, of course, about parents. There are some representatives of this “workshop” who prefer not to keep children unaware of their shortcomings. Such a policy only hurts the offspring, especially if they have not reached the level of maturity when it comes to the realization that all the claims of people are, first of all, claims to themselves. Parents did not survive something, failed, and now God, as they believe, gave them a second chance, hope for a correction of the situation. The defendant (child) is a victim of exorbitant vanity, he can only regret it.
