The early years of Alexander Shane

Shane Alexander was born in 1933 in Moscow in the family of the theater administrator Samuil Abramovich Shein and housewife Klara Borisovna Driban. In addition to Alexander, two more children were brought up in the family - Fedor and Irina. Since childhood, the future director absorbed the creative atmosphere of the theater, was present at almost all premieres, was personally acquainted with many actors and directors. Work in the theater was his dream, and she was destined to materialize. Therefore, when it came time to choose a profession, Shane Alexander did not hesitate for too long and decided to enter the theater. True, before entering the university, young Shane had to work as an assistant director in the Yermolova Theater until 1956. However, these years could not be considered lived in vain, during this time the future director and screenwriter had the opportunity to thoroughly study the whole mechanism of the theater, hidden from the viewer, which was very useful to him in further activities. And only in 1958, Shane Alexander was enrolled in GITIS, where he studied at the directing department until 1963 on the course of experienced master

However, without a diploma, Alexander begins to try his hand as a director. So, from 1961 to 1962 he worked in a number of theaters in Kazan, Tula and Moscow. In 1962, he was involved as the second director on the set of the film “Hello, Children!”, It was the first film work of Alexander Shein. The film tells about the tragic fate of a Japanese girl who fell ill with radiation sickness after the atomic
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and then, by the will of fate, ended up on vacation in the Artek camp on the Black Sea coast. Shane Alexander worked on this work together with the director Mark Donskoy.
The first independent film work by Alexander Shein was the tape “Family Happiness” based on the novel by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov “Nerves”, the film involved such Soviet movie stars as
Valentin Gaft, Alisa Freindlikh, Vyacheslav Tikhonov, etc., however, despite this, the tape did not had great rolling success.
Multiscreen movie
Since 1970, the era of multi-screen cinema begins in the life of Alexander Shane, he was destined to become the father and founder of this trend in the vastness of the country. The essence of multi-screen cinema is reduced to showing several thematically related pictures on one screen. This direction was developed in the west in the first half of the twentieth century, but for Soviet cinema it became an innovation. For the modern viewer, there is nothing surprising in the "multi-screen spectacle", but it is worth remembering that we are talking about an era that is far from digital technology. Within the framework of this project, Alexander Shein became the organizer and head of the Sovpolikadr creative workshop, which was engaged in the filming of documentary and journalistic films using the multi-screen method. During the operation of the workshop, Alexander Shane made about 13 paintings. Among them are "Our March", "International", "I am a citizen of the Soviet Union" and other tapes. In particular, the film "Our March" became the laureate of the Grand Prix "Golden Dove" at the international film festival in Leipzig. Most of these works praised the Soviet system and promoted it in every way.

Few people know that Alexander Shane himself starred in several film roles, although these works were episodic, but still they are also worth mentioning. So, for many he was remembered for his role in the first Soviet disaster film “The Crew” (1979), already in adulthood A. Shane took part in the filming of the popular series “Two Fates” (2002), where he played the role of Osetrov.
A family
Shane Alexander Samuilovich was married, became the father of two children - the daughter of Katerina and the son of Alexander. The latter went in the footsteps of his father and became a famous director and producer of films. The daughter is far from cinema, but her occupation is related to art and creativity - she is the administrator of art exhibitions.
