Autism: Symptoms in Children and Adults

Mental illnesses can be very serious. As a rule, they appear unexpectedly, and cure (partial or complete) is not always possible. Such diseases can make a person an outcast of society, deprive him of the opportunity to start a family, children, build a career.

Autism is a severe mental development disorder . It is characterized by a speech disorder, as well as motor skills. This also includes stereotyped behavior - this is the main reason that the patient cannot normally join the society.

Autism, the symptoms of which we consider, adversely affects the early development of children. Of course, it is reflected in all future life. Until now, there are no medical tests that could at least somehow diagnose it. Symptoms of autism are most often manifested in childhood. There are many methods for treating and caring for people with autism. Many of them are quite effective, but the result can by no means be spoken in all cases.
It is worth noting that autism, the symptoms of which are specific, can manifest itself in a mild or severe degree. How the patient can interact with others, perceive reality, communicate and so on depends on the degree. A mild degree of autism may not be detected immediately, but, for example, only when the child has already gone to school.

Autistic patients usually speak very slowly. Often they try to use gestures instead of words, but the meaning of the words themselves is confused or forgotten. What is happening around them is of little interest. There is also no interest in people. Instead of playing with other children, they prefer to be alone. People in most cases are not remembered. They don’t perceive animals or are afraid for completely unknown reasons.

All this is often associated with sleep disorders, digestive problems, all kinds of allergies.

Autism: Symptoms in Children

At the slightest suspicion of this disease, you should immediately consult a doctor. Autism, the symptoms of which will be listed below, can develop both quickly and slowly. Everything is very unpredictable. Reasons for concern:

  • the child cannot say what he wants;
  • does not respond to requests;
  • Doesn't remember how to use items
  • does not respond to the name;
  • hearing impairment occurs;
  • it is difficult to establish visual contact with him;
  • no babble;
  • no smile;
  • does not speak for a long time and so on.

Causes

Nobody can still name the exact cause of the disease. It is known that it is more common in boys (about four times). It has also been established that heredity plays an important role. A patient in the family means that the probability of having a child with autism is ten percent. It has been proven that vaccination of children has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Autism in adults: symptoms

Many adult symptoms are similar to those described above (childhood). A patient with autism, as an adult, also experiences certain difficulties in interacting with others. It is difficult for him to become part of any team.

Autism in adults can be expressed in different ways. Here are more general symptoms:

  • it is difficult to make eye contact;
  • intolerance of physical contact (for example, avoids handshakes);
  • does not respond to his name;
  • monotonous speech;
  • repetition of one word a large number of times (sometimes sentences or phrases);
  • immunity to pain and external irritants.

Of course, severe autism patients should always be under the care of someone. They are not always able to survive on their own. Adults with a mild form of autism are able to work, make any independent decisions, communicate, start a family. Sometimes their symptoms are not so easy to recognize.
