Mara changes her outlook on life and decides to abandon her dreams of eternal love. She meets an old minister who solves a number of her problems. Mara is recovering and reuniting with Dimochka. In Tokareva’s book, the main character dies. And before her death, Dima bequeaths to dispel her ashes in her native city - Leningrad. She suspects that no one will come to her grave, and decides to leave the last word for herself.
