By law, a foreigner has the right to reside and work in Russia, and in other countries, only after obtaining a residence permit. What is a residence permit?
So, every foreigner who wants to come to the Russian Federation or continue to live further on its territory must understand that a residence permit is a document:
- who certifies the identity of a citizen residing in Russia;

Refusal to extend a residence permit
A stateless person residing in the territory of the Russian Federation must comply with the laws of the country and not violate the established rules. He must timely submit documents for the extension of a residence permit, otherwise, most likely, he will be denied further residence in the Russian Federation. They may refuse if the alien:
- has a criminal record;
- involved in various administrative penalties (this applies to malicious violators);
- took part in promotions aimed at changing the existing power of the Russian Federation;
- in the past five years he has been deported from the country at least once;
- traveled to another country for the purpose of permanent residence;
- provided knowingly false information about himself, the employer, or his place of residence;
- is a carrier of a dangerous disease, including HIV;
- married a citizen of the Russian Federation, who was subsequently declared invalid;
- unable to support herself or her family, who also lives in the country.
It is worth noting once again that all these violations serve not only as a direct basis for refusing to extend a residence permit, but also as a reason for its early termination. If a stateless person does not have a residence permit, then by law he is obliged to immediately leave the country.
