Since ancient times, people have dreamed of gaining immortality. There were legends about the search for life-giving elixirs, heroes and rulers of the states were looking for artifacts that give immortality. And even the famous science of alchemy was engaged in the search for a philosopher's stone, which, in addition to turning everything into gold, had another, no less important function: it gave man immortality.
Naturally, all the legends and myths were based on real (to a greater or lesser extent) events, the purpose of which was to increase the life span of a person, to make him, if not immortal, then at least a long-liver.
Oddly enough, little has changed in life. Indeed, modern medicine in its essence strives for exactly the same thing - increasing life expectancy, saving people from various diseases. And the perseverance of people in the field of finding a cure for death already has a truly manic character. Do not believe? Then remember the people who give their bodies for conservation โuntil better timesโ, turn to African shamans and even, in their opinion, sell their souls to the devil. These methods are radical, but far from always bring really visible and significant results.
But as always happens in the most difficult questions, the answer lies on the surface and is quite simple: a personโs life expectancy directly depends on his life conditions, profession, body condition and health care. And of course, old age is an inevitable process, but any person can do something to slow it down, sometimes quite significantly. This can be done, for example, with special drugs that slow down the aging process.
In general, life expectancy is only 30% determined by genetics, while the remaining 70% goes precisely to environmental factors and lifestyle. That is, more specifically, it depends on factors such as:
- ecology (it is proved that the average life expectancy in countries with better ecology is much greater than in polluted ones);
- sleep mode (a person needs to sleep from 6 to 9 hours a day, less or more is already harmful, while it is desirable that the dream was in the dark);
- nutrition (scientists have proved that a person who adheres to a low-calorie diet significantly slows the development of atherosclerosis and has a longer life expectancy);
- physical culture (sports affect the general condition of the body);
- the presence of diseases, immunity (people with weak immunities put their bodies at risk of acquiring various diseases, the presence of diseases significantly affects their lifespan, for example, the life expectancy of HIV-infected people is much lower than that of healthy people);
- economic component (people with high incomes live longer in any country of the world).
So, if you follow all the "laws" of longevity, anyone can increase their life expectancy. If we talk about records, then you should call one Frenchwoman who lived 122 years and 164 days, thereby setting a record for life expectancy, recorded scientifically. In Russia, one resident of Yakutia lived a record time, whose life expectancy was more than 117 years. Their secret was simple: they led a healthy lifestyle, did not overeat, were engaged in physical education, went to bed early and got up early. If you follow these simple rules, you can easily join the ever-expanding list of centenarians.
It is not a question of alchemy or even African shamans: we (as in almost any life situation) ourselves act as blacksmiths of our happiness and our lives. If you want to live long, start taking care of it right now. It is unlikely that they will be able to get rich right now or move to a more environmentally friendly area, but no one bothers to go in for sports or change their diet.
