The future talented performer was born and raised in a large family of doctors. William has six sisters and brothers who have built a professional career in the field of medicine. The beginning of the creative path
After successfully graduating from high school, future actor Bill Pullman enters the director's department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
After graduating, William James produces original theater plays while teaching at the University of Montana. The actor's stage debut took place on the theatrical stage of Broadway. Due to certain circumstances, Bill moved to Los Angeles, where he continued to build a theatrical career until 1987.
Crucial moment
Stage director Mel Brooks in 1987 encroached on the "holy" - filmed a parody of "Star Wars" called "Cosmic Eggs" (IMDb: 7.10). Bill Pullman, whose films are quite multi-genre, got the role of Captain Lone Star, he parodied Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in one person. This film was a turning point in the previously sluggish acting career of the performer.
Literally a year later, the actor starred in the romantic melodrama "Tourist involuntarily", in which Julian plays a secondary role. The usual melodrama, causing a sentimental impression on the beholder, with the light hand of the creators prompted serious thoughts about life. The picture received a well-deserved Oscar, and its cast - the increased attention of filmmakers, including Bill Pullman. The films in which he was shot further provided the actor with the opportunity to demonstrate all facets of his talent:
- in the drama Sleepless in Seattle, the performer had to play a secondary role as Walter;
- in the romantic comedy “While You Slept,” Pullman reincarnated as Jack Callahan, the brother of the protagonist in a coma;
- in the fantasy comedy for family viewing "Casper" Bill played a major role (Dr. James Harvey).
In the guise of the President of the United States
In 1996, a fantastic film directed by Roland Emmerich was released, announcing the emergence of a new trend in Independence Day cinema science fiction of the 90s. This picture becomes the most popular in the U.S. cinema distribution for 96 years, which is not surprising, the main characters were chosen by the creators with strict observance of political correctness: the heroic trio includes the orthodox computer genius David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum), the black captain of the US Air Force Stephen Hiller (Will Smith) and US President Thomas Whitmore himself (Bill Pullman). They are considered to be the central characters of the tape "Independence Day". Bill Pullman, in addition to heroism and bravado, added a lot of purely human qualities to his character. Foreign critics noted the romantic component of the film, among three love lines, the love story of Thomas Whitmore and first lady Marilyn Whitmore (Mary McDonnell) was mentioned.
The actor is not going on a well-deserved rest, continues to act actively. In the near future, Bill Pullman will add films to his filmography: “Brother-Nature” (2016), “LBD” (2016), “Coming Out” (2017).
