Brest Children's Regional Hospital: history and activities today

The main state institution in the Brest region in Belarus for the provision of medical services and emergency care is the Brest Regional Children's Hospital. The institution is equipped with modern equipment and offers small patients and their parents treatment and diagnosis of diseases of a wide profile (ENT, injuries, infectious diseases, neurology and others)

History

There is the Brest Regional Children's Hospital on Khalturina, 12. Highly qualified and specialized care is available to all children living in the region and Brest.

The history of the development of the children's hospital in the region begins in 1968, when, according to the order of the city health department, the children's department of the regional hospital was closed and a separate city institution for children was created. By the end of this year, a hospital and three departments were opened. After 2 years, another children's department was opened. In 1975, the city hospital was renamed the regional. In 1983, they opened a department for nursing premature babies. The opening of pediatric resuscitation occurred in 1987. In 1989, a new hospital building consisting of 6 floors was commissioned. Over the next seven years, the hospital continued to develop, new departments opened: ENT, neurological, purulent surgery. In 2003 there was a department of a consultative clinic at the hospital. The intensive care unit and operating units were carried out in 2006. In 2013, the renovation of the old hospital building, consisting of three floors, was completed.

Activities

Currently, the Brest Children's Regional Hospital has a complex structure of departments and divisions of various profiles and specializations. Includes:

1. Reception room.

2. Resuscitation field (advisory team).

3. Pediatric unit for 280 beds:

  • 1st pediatrics (cardiological, rheumatological, nephrological and hematological diseases);
  • 2nd pediatrics (pulmonological pathology);
  • 3rd pediatrics (infectious diseases);
  • 4th pediatrics (gastroenterological, endocrinological, allergoprofil);
  • 5th pediatrics (nursing premature babies);
  • neurology.

4. Surgical unit for 157 beds:

  • surgery;
  • ENT department;
  • traumatology department;
  • emergency room;
  • anesthesiology and resuscitation;
  • operblok.

5. Supporting units:

  • laboratory;
  • functional diagnostics;
  • endoscopy;
  • physiotherapy;
  • Exercise therapy;
  • HBO cabinet (pressure chamber);
  • ultrasound room;
  • rooms for radiation and x-ray diagnostics.

The hospital undergoes examinations and treats chronic diseases. If necessary, the institution has the opportunity to conduct complex examinations and operations. The provision of medical care has been established at a high quality level and is accessible to the entire children's population of the region.
