Comic book heroes have remained popular for decades. And in many ways this is the merit of cinema. One of the favorite comic book characters is Captain America. The actors who embodied the image of this character in the film adaptations, and films dedicated to him, are the topic of this article. Who is he, the great patriotic symbol from the comics of the 1940s, who does not lose his popularity even now?
Character story and character biography
Captain America (the actors who played this character in the movie became very popular) first appeared on the pages of the Marvel comics in March 1941. This is a specially created patriotic symbol, a superhero, personifying the power of the country.
At the beginning of World War II, a sickly young man, Stephen Rogers, tried to join the army as a volunteer. He was accepted into the special Renaissance program, which was engaged in the development of serum to create super-soldiers. Stephen became the first subject to be given an experimental sample of the drug. Then he was irradiated with Vita-rays. Rogers endured the rebirth of the body. The serum worked - he received tremendous physical strength, stamina and dexterity. During the tests, a German spy who infiltrated the base killed a scientist who kept the serum secret secret. As a result, Rogers was the only super-soldier.
The government decided to use it for covert operations against the country's enemies. According to Stephen's sketches, his suit was created, created in the colors of the American flag, and a shield made of durable vibranium metal. The hero received a new name - Captain America. Actors who subsequently embodied his image on the screen became no less popular than the comic book character himself.
Abilities and weapons
The hero does not have supernatural skills, abilities and powers. The serum only increased its own capabilities, making it physically several times stronger and more enduring. The shield is the only weapon. With his help, Rogers can not only defend himself, but also fight.
Enemies
The scientist who chose Stephen to participate in the experiment, the creator of the serum, was very sympathetic to Rogers. It was he who noticed the remarkable volitional qualities of a frail young man. Therefore, when a German spy killed him, Captain America vowed to avenge his death.
The Red Skull is one of the many enemies of Captain America and other superheroes. He first appeared in the 1941 comic book and in the guise of Johann Schmidt became the sworn enemy of Rogers. It was he who sent his spies to steal the serum and kill its developer.
The Nazi scholar Baron Zemo is another enemy of Captain America. In addition to these two supervillains, Steve Rogers fought a huge number of other equally dangerous criminals.
First film adaptations
In 1944, the series dedicated to the popular superhero - Captain America, was released. It was a black and white tape consisting of 13 episodes. The main character was played by actor Dick Pursell. The plot of the series is very different from the comics.
In 1979, the movie "Captain America" appeared, dedicated to the popular comic book hero "Marvel". A retired military man, Steve Rogers, is fatally injured due to an accident. It was decided to use the dying man to introduce experimental substance into his body. It not only saves Rogers, but also makes him stronger.
By modern standards, the movie "Captain America" is largely technically imperfect and does not follow the plot of the original comic book. The main character was played by actor Rab Brown. He embodied the image of a superhero in a sequel called "Captain America 2". And again, the plot of the picture had nothing to do with comics.
In 1990, another not very successful film adaptation appeared - the action movie Captain America. The main character was played by actor Matt Salinger. This time, the creators of the picture tried not to depart from the plot outlined in the comics. Fascist scientists create a super-soldier - the Red Skull. The US responded with the advent of its superhero.
The first screen versions of the adventures of a superhero starred actors who were almost unfamiliar to the modern audience.
"Captain America. Captain America: A Modern Look at Marvel Superhero
Old films have their own particular charm and evoke nostalgia mixed with tenderness. But at the same time, the viewer understands how technically imperfect special effects were then. Films about past superheroes, sadly to say it, are outdated. Therefore, it was decided to shoot new paintings, using modern technology to show all the abilities of the comic book characters. So there was a new film "Captain America", the actors of which are now known to all fans of the popular superhero. The picture received the second name "The First Avenger" and was released in 2011. The main role was played by Chris Evans, who became the new face of Captain America. In addition to him, in the picture you can see Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving.

The Marvel company, which has already managed to shoot many successful adaptations of its comics, meticulously approached the selection of actors. The film received good reviews from film critics and was enthusiastically received by the fans. A positive reaction to the picture allowed us to start shooting the sequel, which was released in 2014 with an updated cast: Scarlett Johansson, Samuel Al Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Haley Atwell.
In addition, Evans in the image of a popular superhero can be seen in several films dedicated to the Avengers superhero team. The output of the next picture is scheduled for 2016. The working title is "The Avengers Split."
