Watching in the cinema people who make love extremely realistically, every time we notice how well the actors got used to the image and how soulfully they play. At the same time, few people think that sex may not be simulated, because there are always a lot of “outsiders” on the set. Moreover, if everything happens for real, then this is a different genre of cinema, the products of which are not shown in cinemas, but occupy the shelves of certain stores. But from each rule, as usual, there is an exception. There have been rare cases in the history of the film industry when real intercourse seeped onto the big screen. This publication presents films where the actors really had sex.
Genre blaxploitation
Indie director Melvin Van Peebles definitely knew what he wanted when he wrote the script and shot the film Sweet Sweetback: The Git Song (1971). At the center of the narrative are the life-spells of a real sex machine, an African American Sweet Sweetback. With the creator’s light hand, the character makes a lot of controversial acts that violate the genre taboos of the 70s: he kills dogs, kills cops, relieves the need anywhere and has a lot of sex, sometimes interracial. It is not easy to find a performer of the role of such a character, and with a limited budget, so the director himself courageously shouldered this dubious burden. He had to participate in a number of sexual intercourse with unfamiliar people.
The sad confirmation that this project should be attributed to films where they really have sex is gonorrhea picked up by Peebles in the process of filming. The drug treatment for the filmmaker was paid for by the Filmmakers Guild. The efforts spent on all kinds of obstacles overcome by the director during the filming process were not in vain. “Git Song” not only became one of the financially successful and discussed projects of 1971, but also created a new subgenre called “blacklisting”.
Satirical grotesque movie
The painting “Pink Flamingos” (1972) is the author’s project of the outstanding film promoter John Waters, who acted in the project as a screenwriter, director, producer, cameraman and installation specialist. This is another movie where they really have sex. The story of the deviant entertainment of two families of frivolous freaks to watch viewers with a weak nervous system is highly discouraged. The director, according to his confession, wanted to achieve with his work not an audience ovation, but an emetic reaction.
The methods used to achieve this goal include sexual intercourse involving gutted chickens, masturbation, defecation, and incest through oral sex. The main role in the film was played by the transvestite Devine (Harris Glen Milsted). The public was convinced by the director that all the ugliness happened for real, saying that he simply did not have money for props, special effects and understudies, only the scenes of cannibalism became an exception.
Fridkin's on-screen story
Calling the films where the characters really had sex, it is worth noting the attention of William Fridkin’s thriller “The Searcher” (1980). The picture of a serial killer specializing in dismemberment of gays is recorded in the memory of the viewer not only by the presence of the brilliant Al Pacino, but also by episodes with same-sex intercourse recorded by the camera in the surroundings of countless gay clubs. After the release of the project, the director of The Exorcist and The French Connector gave interviews in which he said that he simply hired New York gays who did just that on camera.
Despite the fact that Al Pacino was once again surprised by the ability of a kind of "introduction" into the role, and the movie was striking in the authenticity of the embodiment of a degrading cruel world, the tape failed at the box office. Perhaps this happened because of the strict censorship, which put the film a pornographic rating of “X”, then the authors had to monstrously cut it, remove most of the “strawberries”.
Philosophical-existential erotic drama
It is quite difficult to recall all the names of films where the artists had real sex overnight. But the associations immediately refer to Nagisa Oshima's painting “Empire of Senses” (1976), which was called the best erotic tape of all time. The screen version of the history of the Japanese prostitute, despite the shocking frankness, obscenity, was created at a high artistic level. The tape deservedly has the status of a cult, having undoubted artistic merits. Many prudent critics were outraged by the frank demonstration of fellatio and the mass of unambiguous penetrations, calling certain scenes "acts of genuine copulation without any veil." But the castration episode was definitely not real, that would be too much.
The most ambitious film project of Tinto Brass
Among the films where the actors really had sex, is the work of T. Brass "Caligula" (1979). A logical question arises: how did Tinto manage to lure serious dramatic artists such as John Gilgud, Malcolm McDowell and Peter O'Toole into such a project?
It turns out that everything is simple: initially the project was conceived as a historical epic about the bloodthirsty Roman emperor, and all the sex scenes were simulated. But at the post-production stage, Bob Guccione shot and added some explicit scenes to the timing. They really look like inserted numbers, shot as if for a pornographic film, and the introduction of such "divertissements" is not justified and not conditioned by any special artistic tasks. But they allow you to name "Caligula" in the films, where they really have sex.
21st Century American Beauty
For the most part, films where they truly make love are the work of the most extraordinary visionaries of our time, which undoubtedly include Larry Clark. After the "Kids", which tells about the peculiarities of the sexual life of the young generation, he removes "Ken Park" (2002) and again encourages the characters to enter the territory of oral sex, masturbation, group orgies and other difficultly simulated manipulations, recorded in close-up. Due to the very young age of the acting group, the picture caused serious public outrage and a ban in individual countries. Perhaps, sorting through the movies in their minds where they really have sex, no one would have remembered the film “Brown Rabbit” (2003), if not for the participation of Chloe Sevigny as a leading woman. The director, producer, scriptwriter, cameraman and male lead Vincent Gallo managed to persuade the girl to large-scale fellatio to herself. The film was booed in Cannes, the creative biography of the actress was predictably not continued. In addition to Carolyn Duce and other dramatic actors, she starred in the renowned porn industry Rocco Siffredi, who helped the characters liberate themselves. Uncensored, fearful and reproachful, the authors have saturated the action of the painting with masturbation, oral sex, classic intercourse, ejaculation, and elements of BDSM. “The Nymphomaniac: Part 1” (2013)
Among modern visionaries in the world of cinema, there are few creators comparable to Lars von Trier. His 2013 creation is rather ephemeral and intellectual, rather than tangible, delightful drama, presented in the form of a journey inside the female soul. At the same time, the narrative is filled with scenes of varying degrees of candor, including those that are not permissible for the director and actors who do not work in a specific genre of category XXX. Moreover, Shia LaBeouf, who, according to the Nymphomania press release, pasted someone else's copulating torso on a computer, in an interview convincingly stated that he had never pretended to be on the set. Of course, you can argue for a long time to whom the demonstrated genitals belonged, but there is no doubt that they came into non-illusory contact.
Unfortunately or fortunately, Russian films where they really had sex are unknown. Most likely, the domestic film industry is not able to boast of such innovation.
