For many years, the beautiful seaside city of Odessa was popularly called by different people. He was called Little Paris, the Pearl of the Black Sea, South Palmyra. But the fact that it is the main thieves' capital of the country, firmly tied another name to this picturesque place - Odessa-mother. The actors who starred in the series under that name showed us the difficult summer of 1969, when this whole story happened.

It was a film about the famous city with its special freedom-loving spirit, unusual colorful humor and a commercial vein that seems to have been born before Odessa. The authors of the script were Andrey Kureichik and Alexander Kachan. It has long been noticed that the television series of recent years have become more high-quality and interesting. Mark Gorobets, the director of the film “Odessa-Mama”, whose actors played quite vividly and very realistically, decided to transfer the filming process to Odessa, to which many films were dedicated. The choice for the filming of this particular city is very easy to explain: beautiful landscapes, wonderful weather, amazingly clear sea and beautiful nature.
Story line
The protagonist of the picture is the investigator of the Moscow prosecutor’s office Andrei Chebanov. He was sent to Odessa to take the post of prosecutor of the city and in this post began a serious fight against the criminal groups that control this territory. In the slippery paws of unfolding criminal events, the most ordinary people accidentally become involved. The painting "Odessa-mom", the actors in which told the whole story, showed the city at the junction of the 60-70s of the twentieth century.
The new prosecutor Andrei Chebanov concludes: another wave of wars is coming. These are the conflicts that arise due to the division of spheres of influence in the city and are accompanied by human victims. And this can happen if not today, then tomorrow. Assistant Chebanova in Odessa - deputy. the city prosecutor Irina Volskaya (actress Svetlana Ustinova) - helps him to figure out the situation with all his might. Together they will try to find the right way out of it.

In 1969, authority was killed in Odessa. A serious war is coming in the underworld. To try to somehow alleviate the situation and, if possible, to avoid bloodshed, David Pachulia (nicknamed Dato), a thief in law, also comes here. It was he who should appoint a new “looker” and warn all squabbles and skirmishes between the bandits. A new grouping is emerging in the city, led by the thieves' authority of the Greek. Actors of the series "Odessa-Mom" for the role of leaders of the criminals were selected very carefully. And it's not just the appearance of the artists. The main thing was to understand: who can feel the mood of the villains, convey their manner of behavior.
Parallel stories
Another storyline unfolds around three friends who have known each other since school. This is Ivan (Petr Fedorov), who was recently demobilized from the army; Boris (Alexander Alyabyev), student of the Maritime College; Lekha (the actor, well known for the series “Traffic cops”, “Kitchen”, “Trap”, Mikhail Tarabukin), a guy recently released from prison. The criminal stories of Odessa, the sea ​​pearl, simply "open" their arms for them.
Actors of the film "Odessa-Mom" are selected almost perfectly. Everyone played their hero so reliably that it seems like this is their real life. The guys find themselves drawn into situations that are unpleasant for them, and in addition, involuntarily dragging their brides into them: Oksana (Olga Smirnova) and Svetlana (Agnia Kuznetsova). The mother of the girls, Marina Antipova (an actress familiar to the audience on the TV series “The Brigade” and its sequel, Ekaterina Guseva), who turned out to be the girlfriend of youth of the new prosecutor Chebanova, comes to a balanced decision to use Andrei for her own purposes. After all, he still has tender feelings for her. The actors of the film "Odessa-Mom", Dyuzhev and Guseva, are not the first time meeting on the set. Therefore, they easily found a common language and created a cohesive tandem.
Punishment or promotion?

Dyuzhev and Guseva - the actors of the series "Odessa-Mama", show this relationship very beautifully and not intrusively. All this is quite intriguing, especially since in this story many different characters are tied up, by and large, negative.
Which is better: modernity or retro style?
Viewers over the past one and a half to two decades have become accustomed to the fact that a lot of pictures about bandits and cops appeared on the screens. Therefore, trying to surprise and please these very spectators, the creators tried to do something incredibly new. This story is also to some extent about bandits, thieves and crooks, but it was shot in an unusual retro style, which becomes attractive. The film really captivates with its plot, telling an interesting, even life story of the sixties of the last century.
This is how the series "Odessa-Mama" seemed. Actors and the roles they play recreated the era of the Soviet era with a coastal accent. After the release of the tape on the screens, there were a lot of reviews about the plot, the game of the actors. Some praised the finely matched artistic composition and history itself.
