This man began with children's roles, then adults began to play. He passed away at the age of 48, and never having had time to fully reveal himself.
Evaldas Mikalunas: biography
A man dedicated to cinema and theater was born on August 22, 1960. He was born in Kaunes, the second largest and largest city in Lithuania. Evaldas Mikalunas came to the cinema early. The boy was only six years old when he starred in The Little Prince.
The film, based on the tale of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, determined his life. In 1982, Mikalunas graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory (acting department). His teachers were Henrikas Vancevičius and Rimas Tuminas.
A graduate was invited to the troupe of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater, but he left her two years later. More promising seemed to him cooperation with the Vilnius Lele Theater, which lasted until the death of the actor.
The beginning of a film career
Evaldas’s film career began with the philosophical tale-parable “The Little Prince”. The immortal work of Antoine de Saint-Exupery brought to the screen Arunas Zhebrunas. The focus of the story is the acquaintance of a crash pilot in the desert and a little boy. The child was played by Mikalunas, and the pilot by Otar Koberidze.
What other films of Evaldas Mikalunas were successful with the audience? The talented child received his second main role in 1968. He embodied the image of Fedi in the adventure film "Half an hour for miracles." His character receives a magic brush from a cheerful painter, which allows him to do good deeds. Because of this amazing gift, the boy has dangerous enemies.
Other roles
At the age of 11, Mikalunas starred in the fantastic film “The Secret of the Iron Door”. His hero is an ordinary fourth-grader Tolya Ryzhkov. One day, a boy accidentally finds magic matches. A mysterious find fulfills all his desires. This allows Tola and his friend to move to a fabulous island. But soon friends discover that they cannot return home.
Then Evaldas Mikalunas got the main role in the family drama “He was a real trumpeter”. He created the image of the young artist-agitator Koti Mgebrov-Chekan. His character tragically dies at the hands of the counter-revolutionary, and he is solemnly buried in Petrograd next to the heroes of the revolution.
The boy-actor received his last vivid role in 1974. He starred in the children's film "Secret City." Events unfold in a pioneer camp, which is located on the Black Sea. The story revolves around the mysterious loss of the pioneer horn, in search of which the entire detachment goes. The guys are waiting for a dizzying adventure.
Unfortunately, in the adult movie roles for Mikalunas were not found. He had to leave the cinema when he was no longer able to play children. The artist did not give up, found himself on the stage of the theater.
Behind the scenes
Little is known about Evaldas' adulthood. When the artist stopped acting in films, members of the press lost interest in him. The ranks of fans also noticeably thinned. Information about the artist’s wife and children has not been preserved.
The cause of death of Evaldas Mikalunas is heart problems. A talented artist passed away suddenly. Friends and colleagues for a long time could not believe what had happened. Evaldas died on April 19, 2009. The actor was buried in the Karveliškiu cemetery, which is located in Vilnius. Farewell ceremony was attended only by close people and fans who know the artist by his bright theatrical roles. Unfortunately, Mikalunas is rarely remembered now.
