In modern mass culture, Japanese animation is quite popular, most often just called anime - from the English word animation ("animation").
Distinctive features of the Japanese film adaptation, thanks to which it gained such fame outside the Land of the Rising Sun, are an unusual drawing style, plot templates and character types, and other details. All this makes anime a whole layer reflecting Japanese culture.
