In modern football, very few players remain faithful to their club (or to any one club in general) for an extremely long time. Everyone is looking for new challenges, and there is nothing to worry about. Fans of Russian football, most likely, know such a football player as Dominguez Alejandro. This is an Argentinean playmaker who managed to change many clubs during his career, playing in Russia for Rubin and CSKA. If you did not find him in Russian clubs, you can read a brief biography of such a player as Alejandro Dominguez (Alejandro Damian Dominguez is his full name).
Carier start
Dominguez Alejandro began his career at the Argentinean club "Quilmes", with which in 1999 (at the age of 18) he signed his first professional contract. On a professional level, Alejandro spent only twenty-five matches with the team over two years. During this time, talent was already considered in him, and the young playmaker moved to the larger Argentine club - River Plate. Such a transfer has already said that the player has a great future. Dominguez Alejandro quickly settled into the new club, but he had to leave his native land and explore Europe.
Career Development at River Plate
Naturally, everything has its own time, but for now it's worth telling about the three years that playmaker Dominguez Alejandro spent in the best club in Argentina. Photos of the rising star immediately appeared in all Latin American sports publications, but passions subsided quite quickly. It turned out that Dominguez is still not a new genius, and he played very little at River Plate - in three seasons the midfielder has played less than thirty games. Fortunately, it was at this moment, in 2004, that Russian interest appeared in the playmaker - Kazan club Rubin wanted to see Dominguez in its ranks. River Plate, which received Alejandro for free, was happy to sell the player for one and a half million euros. That is how the football player Dominguez Alejandro got to Europe. His biography as a football player, of course, does not end there - a lot of changes awaited him ahead.
Game in Russia
So, in 2004, when Dominguez was 23 years old, he ended up in Russia and became a player of the Kazan Rubin - here he was a real star. Alejandro became a base player and began to distribute assists and score goals with incredible zeal. For three years (a little over sixty matches) Dominguez scored 21 goals and gave a little less than twenty assists. Naturally, such performance did not go unnoticed, and in 2007, the best Russian club Zenit became interested in the Argentine footballer, who gladly laid out seven million euros for the 26-year-old player.
However, everything was not as rosy as everyone would like - Dominguez, of course, got a place at the base of Zenit, where he played for two whole seasons, but during this time he did not show a fraction of what he showed in Rubin, distinguishing himself goal only seven times and giving 12 assists. Zenit did not like this state of affairs, and the 28-year-old player returned to Rubin, who paid a little more than half of what he received in 2007. And just this year, Dominguez rose from the level of the average player to a real star - he became one of the main creators of the success of Rubin, so in the winter of 2010 the 29-year-old player was seduced by the proposal of the Spanish Valencia.
The fall in Valencia
No one can say what would happen if Dominguez remained in Rubin, but in Valencia his career went downhill. For a year and a half, Dominguez played thirty matches in which he scored only one goal and gave five assists. Naturally, the club management did not satisfy this, and in 2011, a 30-year-old Argentinean went on a one-year rental home to River Plate.
Return to Argentina
It would seem that the conditions were created ideal, but the time of Dominguez, apparently, has already passed. Yes, he got a place in the starting lineup of River Plate, but he didn’t show that star game that he had in Rubin. Therefore, when the lease year expired, the Argentine club did not offer a full Alejandro contract, but the Spanish club Rayo Vallecano did it. Naturally, no one began to propose a long-term agreement to the 31-year-old player - the contract was designed only for a year, and this year Dominguez worked wonderfully. But not as good as the club management would like, so again Alejandro was left without a club, thanks to which he found his second home - Olympiacos.
Greek adventure
What did you hear the last about a football player like Dominguez Alejandro? Where does this playmaker play? He is already 35 years old, but he still has not finished his career. The fact is that in 2013, when Rayo Vallecano did not renew the contract with the Argentine, he moved to the Greek championship, where Olympiacos became his new club. He still plays there - in three seasons he spent 108 matches on the field, in which he scored 36 goals and gave 29 assists. The Greeks have never regretted attracting an experienced Argentinean, who still has a year left until the end of the contract.
Trophies
Dominguez has never been called to the Argentine national team, but he collected a lot of trophies at the club level. He won the Russian championship twice - once with Zenit, the other with Rubin, and also managed to get into Zenit at the most glorious moment in the history of the club. He chalked up the 2008 Russian Cup, UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Moreover, in each of the three seasons that Dominguez spent at Olympiacos, this club became the national champion, and once the winner of the Greek Cup.
