Chronic tonsillitis. Tonsil washing and other therapeutic measures.

Palatine tonsils are a paired organ of oblong oval shape, consisting of lymphoid tissue and located on the posterolateral surfaces of the throat. If you look into a wide open mouth, they can be seen on both sides of the palatine tongue.

The purpose of the tonsils is to be the guardians of the entrance gates of the body, nose and pharynx, and to prevent the penetration of any pathogenic agents from the external environment. As the first line of defense of the body’s immune system, they are constantly attacked by bacteria and viruses, and in a healthy state they completely cope with their task. With a general decrease in immunity and infection, the tonsils can cease to fulfill their functions. Their winding gaps are clogged with purulent caseous plugs, which serve as “nutrient compost” for the propagation of pathogenic microbes. So chronic tonsillitis occurs.

Symptoms of tonsillitis.

  1. Wastes of pathogenic microorganisms enter the blood and lymph and serve as a constant source of intoxication. The patient develops increased fatigue and depressed mood, often this condition is called chronic fatigue syndrome. Pain also appears in various organs, especially in the joints, for a long time subfebrile temperature can be held.
  2. A very characteristic sign of the disease is a bad breath, which causes negative reactions of others and the emotional discomfort of a person suffering from tonsillitis. Throat perspiration, swallowing, and in some cases breathing, is difficult.
  3. Tonsils serve as a constant source of infection (most often of coccal nature), which can spread throughout the body and provoke inflammation in target organs: joints, heart, kidneys, prostate gland, ovaries, maxillary sinuses.
  4. There is a vicious circle: an infection from the tonsils is spread throughout the body, which leads to frequent diseases. In turn, these diseases further weaken the immune system, and tonsillitis develops further.

Treatment of chronic tonsillitis.

Goal No. 1 in the treatment of chronic tonsillitis is to restore the immune status of the affected organ. For this, tonsils are washed with subsequent treatment with antiseptics. After a course of procedures, the ability to self-cleanse from traffic jams is restored, the symptoms of general intoxication are gradually smoothed out.

Goal number 2 - restoration and strengthening of general immunity. For this, hardening procedures are recommended, immunocorrectors are prescribed.

Goal No. 3 is to prevent a relapse of the disease, which is achieved by maintaining the general immune status of the body (healthy lifestyle, nutrition, timely debridement of carious teeth, treatment of chronic diseases). It is also recommended to carry out preventive washing of the tonsils 2 times a year, in autumn and spring.

In the conservative treatment of chronic tonsillitis, local procedures are traditionally prescribed: rinsing and washing the throat with cannulas and ultrasound, followed by anti-inflammatory treatment, as well as inhalation and irrigation of the mucosa with antiseptic solutions.

It is believed that the only effective treatment for chronic tonsillitis is the removal of tonsils. In fact, surgery can be dispensed with in many cases; it is recommended only for severe complications and concomitant heart diseases.

Tonsil lavage with mild forms of chronic tonsillitis can be done independently. If you decide to carry out the procedure at home, you need a syringe 20.0 and any disinfectant liquid (clean boiled water with the addition of furacilin, chlorophyllipt, iodine, decoctions of herbs), during the exacerbation of the same solutions several times a day, it is useful to gargle. It is important to remember the general hygiene requirements, before any manipulations do not forget to handle tools and hands.

A very effective method of treating chronic tonsillitis is vacuum washing of the tonsils, which allows not only to completely eliminate plugs, but also to improve the tissues of the pharynx as a whole. This procedure is carried out in special medical centers using ultrasound.

Regular washing of the tonsils, hardening, taking vitamin drinks and other actions to strengthen general and local immunity can cope with chronic tonsillitis without surgical intervention and restore the protective function of the tonsils. The only thing that is required of you is consistency and consistency in the implementation of all recommendations.
