Why do we need a list of references?
This is an integral element of any document - scientific work, report, assignment. Often the question arises of what it should consist of.
The list of literature consists of a list of books, magazines, articles, monographs, Internet sites that were used to carry out the work. A bibliographic record is a description of a book or any other source in the list of references. There are rules for registration of such records set forth in the relevant regulatory documents: GOST 7.1-2003, GOST 7.0-99, GOST 7.5-98, etc.
In general, you need to remember a few simple rules regarding how to draw up a list of references :
- The description of the book or other source must include: authorship, title, information about the publisher, year of publication.
- Whenever possible, optionally information is added on the circulation, number of pages, places that should be paid special attention in the context of the work under consideration.
- The author’s indication begins with the surname, then the initials are marked.
- Legislative acts should be described starting with the title of the document, without abbreviations (for example, the Russian Federation - the Russian Federation), indicating the date of publication in the Russian newspaper (which is an official condition for the law to enter into force);
- Rules, standards, patents require the approval of the approving authority.
