Stomatitis: treatment at home with folk remedies

Stomatitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane in the oral cavity. As a separate disease, it is not always found, most often manifested as a sign of another disease - scarlet fever, measles, thrush. A kind of ailment is an inflammatory process on the gums, called gingivitis, if the inflammation is localized on the tongue, the disease is called glossitis. Whatever form stomatitis is presented, treatment at home is possible with the obligatory supervision of a doctor.

Favorable for the development of the disease factors are exacerbation of a chronic disease, a lack of vitamins in the body, abuse of salty or sour, as well as excessively hot or cold food. Smoking is also able to provoke the development of a disease such as stomatitis. Treatment at home should be carried out taking into account the elimination of the factors that caused the development of the disease.

Despite the variety of forms of the disease, the clinical picture looks approximately similar - in certain areas, the mucous membrane of the mouth turns red, swelling of the tissues appears, the lymph nodes under the jaw enlarge and become painful. The catarrhal form of the disease leads to severe redness of the entire oral mucosa, a change in color is accompanied by the appearance of edema, increased salivation and an increase in the patient’s body temperature. An unpleasant smell of rot comes from the mouth, and it becomes difficult for the patient to eat food. With an ulcerative necrotic form of the disease, sores on the gums, covered with a gray coating, appear. Ulcerations in round forms, covered with a yellowish coating, are characteristic of such a variety as aphthous stomatitis.

Treatment at home should be accompanied by precautions, expressed primarily in the disinfection of wounds. Glossitis is characterized by inflammation of the oral mucosa, accompanied by difficulties with swallowing food and high fever. Tartar deposits, improperly performed fillings, irritation of the mucous membrane due to an excessively stiff toothbrush are prerequisites for the development of gingivitis, which also relates to a disease such as stomatitis. Treatment at home in this case will not be effective without the professional help of doctors, since the inflammatory process also affects the teeth.

Depending on the variety, treatment of stomatitis at home is possible with the help of traditional medicine. From century to century, folk wisdom has helped people in the fight against this disease.

Of the most famous recipes, the most popular are medicinal herbs such as calendula flowers, sage leaves, St. John's wort. To cure stomatitis, folk remedies are offered for external use in a wide variety of forms - decoctions, infusions and tinctures.
