The subclavian muscle is one of the paired thoracic superficial. The zone is limited to the following authorities:
- jugular notch on top;
- line of costal arches, xiphoid process.
General information
The muscle is involved in the activity of the shoulder girdle and allows a person to move his hands. It is also involved in the breathing process. The organ is small in size, located parallel to the clavicle. The subclavian muscle, as the name implies, is shifted downward relative to the clavicle.
The organ begins from the first rib from the cartilage, passes through the slit-like gap, due to which it is located in the clavicle and the first rib, separating them. From below, the muscle is firmly attached to the acromial end. The shape of the organ is cylindrical, elongated. Of the other elements of the muscular system, it is closest to the pectoralis major.
Functioning
If the subclavian muscle is in normal tone, it allows you to pull the clavicle:
This ensures the stability of the joints of the chest and collarbone. If the upper limbs are fixed without movement, the subclavian muscle helps to breathe, because it raises the first rib, that is, it is an auxiliary respiratory one.
The innervation is provided by the subclavian nerve. Blood flow guaranteed:
- hepatic acromy artery;
- transverse artery.
Diseases
Radiculitis is a disorder due to which the subclavian muscle suffers . At the same time, the functions of the organ are inhibited, and the person suffers from severe pain.
Radicular syndrome, as this type of radiculitis is known to science, is a subspecies of cervical osteochondrosis. With the disease, the spinal nerves are compressed, since the distance between the vertebrae decreases. Sciatica can provoke:
Possible pathologies are enhanced by compression.
The subclavian muscle suffers, since the nerve roots are irritated, which provokes reactive inflammation and leads to disruption of the innervation of the organ. The danger is primarily radicular syndrome, developing at the upper level of the spine.
Since the subclavian muscle belongs to the superficial pectoral muscles , with radiculitis it hurts intensely, burning. This is due to the peculiarities of the location and nervous support of the organ. Muscles suffer in a similar way:
Training
How is the subclavian muscle pumped? This issue is relevant both for professional bodybuilders and for athletes involved for their pleasure. Remember that you choose exercises that comprehensively affect the pectoral muscles. This approach provides the most pronounced effect in just 1-2 months. It is important not to overdo the workouts, especially at first, as overload can lead to inflammation and damage to the organ.
The simplest exercise for training the subclavian muscle:
- raise your hand relative to the horizon by 45 degrees;
- monitor the position: thumb should be turned to the left;
- on the inside, the forearm rests on the rack;
- from right to left smoothly strain the joint.
A good option is push-ups from the floor. Such exercises affect all pectoral muscles at once, bring a person into tone and pump up his hands. Sequence:
- the athlete takes emphasis lying down, putting his feet on a bench, spreading his hands to the width of his shoulders, bending his elbows and touching the chest of the floor;
- hands straighten quickly, no longer than a second;
- 3 seconds fall until the chest touches the floor;
- repeat the cycle less than 30 times.
The effect is more noticeable if this exercise is supplemented by a set of push-ups, slightly different in technique: hands are placed closer to each other, minimizing the distance between the thumbs. They are wrung out until an intolerable burning sensation appears in the triceps. Then they rest for 45 seconds, relaxing, shaking hands, and begin a new cycle of push-ups. This time the arms are spread wide, the bench press is performed.
To consolidate the effect, the fourth cycle of push-ups is performed, placing the hands shoulder-width apart. This is not necessary, since the correct execution of the first three cycles leads to severe fatigue.
Useful Tips
The subclavian muscle is more efficiently pumped if the athlete stands at a wide angle. Additionally, it activates the clavicle heads and provides good stretching. With a narrow focus, it is more difficult to carry out training exercises, since most of the weight falls on the elbows. This position also provides a good load on the sternum and muscles close to it.
The quality of subclavian muscle pumping depends on the position of the legs during training. By placing the lower limbs on a hill, the athlete activates all the pectoral muscles in a complex. To exclude injuries, you should first warm up properly, and only then proceed to push-ups.
A key advantage of the described exercises is the undemanding to places where they can be practiced. Going on vacation, being at home, finding 10-15 free minutes at work at lunchtime, a person can gradually pump up the subclavian muscle, thereby eliminating the likelihood of inflammation, and also ensuring a good, beautiful figure.
