This year, the Fox television company announced the restart of the incredibly popular TV series of the past decade called “Prison Break”. The series consists of four seasons, numbering 81 episodes. From 2005 to 2009, and until now it was believed that the story of the characters was over, especially since one of the main characters died in the final series. However, all the actors in Jailbreak confirmed their participation in the upcoming season, so we can only guess what new plot twists the scriptwriters will introduce and refresh the memory of key and minor characters, as well as the actors who play them.
Remembering the plot
The series “Prison Break” reveals the story of two brothers. The eldest of them, Lincoln Burroughs, after a murder charge he did not commit, is awaiting the execution of a death sentence in a high security prison. And his younger brother, Michael Scofield, deliberately robs a bank to get into the same prison and get Lincoln out of there. Despite his crazy venture, Michael knows what he is doing, because it was he who, many years ago, took part in the construction of this prison. To facilitate the task, he committed an unusual tattoo on his body before the crime, in which he coded communication schemes, names, addresses and much more. But the cunning plan is in jeopardy because of the powerful “Company”, which has truly enormous opportunities and areas of influence. One way or another, but the heroes were able to break free with several more prisoners. Thus, the main task set in the series “Prison Break” was completed, the 1st season of which was so popular that the creators decided to continue the adventures of the brothers. They obviously had to repeat their achievement more than once.
Key characters
Michael Scofield, a brilliant engineer with a tattoo, which became the hallmark of the series, was played by Briton Wentworth Miller. The actor was approved for the role very quickly, as he conquered the creator of the project Paul Sherring with his mystery, although he only came to the casting a week before filming began. Before “Escape,” Miller flashed in episodes of many TV shows and even in the film “Another World,” but he did not have serious roles, but after the show he gained worldwide popularity. His character in the series is a good guy who went to fictitious crime for the sake of his brother, of whose innocence he is sure. Michael became a creative genius due to a deep shock in childhood.
Dominic Purcell, unlike his on-screen brother, did not initially impress the creators with his appearance, but three days before filming, he appeared on the set absolutely bald and proved that the role of Lincoln Burrows was intended for him. And behind the shoulders of the actor already had roles in high-profile film projects such as Blade 3, Mission Impossible 2, and Equilibrium. Lincoln was the opposite of his brother, not being a respectable citizen, he did a lot of bad deeds, so it is not surprising that the candidacy of Burroughs was very suitable for setting him up.
The beautiful half of the series
No less interesting are the other actors in Jailbreak. Sarah Wayne Callis got the role of Sarah Tancredi, a doctor at Fox River Prison, who had a difficult past with alcohol and drugs. Initially, Michael wanted to bring her to his escape plan, but in the process they had a closer relationship. The actress herself did not go smoothly with the producers, and she left the show after the second season, but thanks to the requests of her fans, she returned to the series in season 4.
There is another important woman in the life of Lincoln and Michael in the series “Prison Break”. Season 1, as well as the 2nd, would not have been possible without Veronica Donovan, a lawyer and girlfriend of the brothers, played by Robin Tunney. But in the 3-4th seasons, she was replaced by another burning brunette, the beautiful Jody Lin O'Keefe, however, she came to the other side, because she embodied the image of the “Company” agent Gretchen Morgan, which became a real headache for the brothers.
Good heroes
There are many more male characters in the series, which is not surprising, because we are talking about places of detention. The series “Prison Break” is famous for its amazing selection of actors, both negative and positive. As for the latter, the brothers had allies, and one of them was Fernando Sucre performed by Amori Nolasco. Fernando is in prison for robbing a store to buy a ring for his girlfriend.
A very interesting and controversial character, the former mafia boss John Amburstsi, was played by the famous actor of Swedish origin Peter Stormare.
The young, but no less important hero in the series is Al Jay Barrows, son of Lincoln. His role is played by Marshall Allman.
Bad Boys
Prison Break actors who played characters on the other side, in other words, villains, also deserve special attention. One of the main antagonists and the most cruel and frightening people in the series is the pedophile maniac Theodore Bagwell, or T-Bag. This role was perfectly embodied on the screen by the famous actor Robert Nepper, on whose account a large number of successful projects both before and after the "Escape". FBI intellectual Alexander Mahoney is another recognizable actor, William Fichtner. And the image of the chief of protection, captain Brad Bellick, was created on the screen by Wade Williams, who is not very well known to the public, and after the show he practically stopped acting for unknown reasons. Special Agent Paul Kellerman, a man with a specific and controversial line, was played by Paul Adelstein, who initially auditioned for the role of Lincoln Burrows.
Interesting fact
The tandem of Miller and Purcell looked so organically on the screen that they were invited to another series for collaboration. Prison Break actors have portrayed the images of the supervillains Captain Cold and Heatwave in a new DC comic book series called Flash. And also, both heroes will move on an ongoing basis to another upcoming TV project of the CW channel, which is a spin-off of the two Strela and Flash TV shows. It will be called The Legends of Tomorrow.
