David was born in 1965 in the English city of Birmingham in the family of a waitress and a truck driver who moved here from Congo in the late 50s. He studied in his hometown - attended the Washwood Heath Academy. He was a member of the London National Youth Theater, and at the age of 18 he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. David Herwood now lives in Streetam, a southern district of London, with his wife Kirsty Handy and two children.
