Relative phimosis can result from recurring infectious diseases. With insufficient attention to personal hygiene under the foreskin, which covers the head of the penis, pathogenic bacteria begin to develop . This can lead to the growth of coarse scar tissue. Relative phimosis is characterized by the contraction of such tissues around the head of the penis and the infection of healthy tissues around it.
The main symptom of the disease is the inability to release
heads. Patient complaints may be absent, but over time
problems with urination appear . Phimosis in adults can be expressed in
pain in the foreskin, purulent discharge, increased
temperature and enlarged lymph nodes. There is also a decrease in potency in
the result of psychological reactions to pain.
Relative phimosis can form as a result of genetic
predispositions of the body to connective tissue deficiency , in
particular of its elastic components. The disease is expressed in the narrowing of the integument of the foreskin, which becomes noticeable only with the onset of an erection.
A pronounced relative phimosis can lead to the accumulation of smegma. This fatty secretion, which is secreted by the glands of the foreskin, is a suitable breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria. In the extreme stages of the disease, this area is inflated, urine is released dropwise. Infectious complications develop in the bladder and urethra.
Inflammatory complications develop, as a rule, after injuries of the foreskin and the impossibility of subsequent hygienic care. As a result, itching appears in the area of ββthe head of the penis, redness and pain.
Phimosis - treatment without surgery
Non-drug therapy consists in the gradual manual stretching of the foreskin. The results of its delay and exposure of the head of the penis may appear after a month of regular procedures. Stretching is recommended to be carried out daily for 9-10 minutes until the patient feels pain during tension. The procedure is best done after taking a bath when the skin becomes most elastic.
In some cases, surgeons perform plastic surgery of the foreskin to increase the circumference of the prepuce ring without excising it. Medication
therapy consists in the regular and prolonged use of ointments based on
corticosteroids (Advantan, Garazon, Lokoid). The drugs are applied to the head of the penis, while they increase the elasticity of the tissues of the foreskin. Corticosteroids not only contribute to the stretching of this site - they relieve inflammation and swelling, accelerate the healing of microcracks.
Surgical intervention
The operation is performed in the form of three longitudinal sections with subsequent cross-stitching of the affected tissue. In the presence of gross scars, partial or complete circumcision of the foreskin is performed. Partial excision is carried out along the borders of fibrotic changes. In some cases, instead of complete circumcision, the Schloffer operation is performed, when under the local anesthesia the foreskin is excised in a zigzag fashion. As a result of the operation, it is retained completely, but at the same time its opening expands significantly. The effectiveness of surgery, in contrast to other methods, is 100%.
The disease is not life threatening, however, it can adversely affect the reproductive function and sexual life of a man. Timely treatment helps to avoid such dangerous complications as urethritis, balanoplastitis, swelling of the penis and even gangrene. During the rehabilitation period, patients are recommended strict observance of the rules of personal hygiene.
