Almost every movie or series has positive and negative characters. However, not all of them are endowed with a certain charisma possessed by the demon Crowley from the popular American mystical television series Supernatural. And although the authors of the project initially conceived the King of Hell as a secondary character, the audience liked it so much that they decided to leave it and include it in the main storyline. So who is this colorful hero? How is it remarkable? And why does it not cause negativity, like other demons?
Crowley Portrait Outline: Characteristic
So, meet Crowley - a demon with an attractive appearance and wayward character. He has a great sense of humor, and also skillfully uses sarcasm. He loves luxury, beautiful women, good alcohol and gambling. He never does anything for nothing.
In his own words, any actions should occur with exceptional benefit for themselves. Therefore, he rarely compromises and prefers to keep a few trump cards in his sleeve.
The demon Crowley, played by the unrivaled Mark Sheppard, simply loves to achieve his goals. Moreover, he does this at all costs, often using very sophisticated torture.
Position in the hierarchy of demons
Initially, Crowley is an ordinary demon of crossroads. Recall that his responsibilities included searching for desperate people and pushing them to sign a contract. Moreover, the entire procedure for concluding a transaction took place at a crossroads, and also provided for the signing of a magic document with the blood of the client and the voluntary sale of his soul in exchange for any benefits.
A little later, Crowley (the crossroad demon got promoted) became the right hand of a certain Lilith. It was she who was the first supernatural creation of the night that Lucifer created immediately after his exile from heaven.
Later, Crowley goes to hell and becomes his king. In this position, he quickly learns and develops his own rules, combating conspiracies and intrigues of the wards, as well as increasing the number of human souls sold.
The first mention of a character
For the first time, the demon Crowley is described by a certain Becky Rosen (according to the script, she is an ardent fan of the series of the same name books about the adventures of the Winchester brothers) in the 5th season of the series “Supernatural”. At the request of the prophet, she tells the main positive characters Sam and Dean about the fate of the Colt they are looking for. According to her, instead of the already known demoness Lilith, Crowley was given the coveted weapon against evil forces.
The relationship of the demon with Lucifer
Despite the fact that Crowley is a demon (“Supernatural” is one of the series that raises the theme of otherworldly forces), he is not alien to the manifestation of some human qualities. For example, we are talking about a certain sense of rivalry and envy of the more successful fallen angel Lucifer, with whom they periodically fight for the power and position of the King of Hell.
In one of the seasons, Crowley helps defeat Lucifer and imprison him in a cage. Later, he will be brutally deceived and humiliated by him, because of which he is forced to flee, leaving the crown and leaving the kingdom of hell.
Lucifer, in turn, would have long been able to get rid of his eternal opponent. However, he plays with him and makes fun of him. But the demon Crowley does not give up and periodically hatches long-playing plans for seizing power.
Mutual cooperation with the Winchester brothers
The hatred of our opponent leads our negative character to an unusual collaboration with the Winchester hunters, whose task is to destroy all possible undead and save humanity from the next Armageddon. By doing service to his brothers, he helps to get rid of Lucifer and returns power to his hands again.
However, this is just one example of a partnership between the King of Hell and the monster hunters. Periodically, their fates are intertwined. And despite the complete opposite of the parties, the Winchesters and Crowley often help each other out. For example, they repeatedly bring the demon out of depression, helping to combat drug dependence on human blood. He also helps the brothers get rid of the Leviathans and the ruthless Knight of Hell Abbadon.
Not without negative moments, after all, Crowley - the creation of evil. Therefore, from time to time he secretly harms his allies. For example, it helps Dean in finding the First Blade (with his help, Cain killed Abel). However, during its use (the battle with Abbadon) and because of its own selfish motives, it turns one of the brothers into a demon. And the Winchesters themselves often lure Crowley into diabolical traps, kidnap and carry him in the trunk, circle around his finger.
But in general, hunters and the King of Hell may well exist peacefully, periodically clashing in small battles. He tenderly calls them "boys" and sometimes calls just to chat about life.
Crowley Demon Prototype
It is believed that our negative character became the prototype of one of the English poets born in 1875, who was a Kabbalist, occultist and tarologist. His name is Alistair Crowley. The demon in this case gained interest in otherworldly forces and a penchant for black magic from him (after all, his mother was a powerful witch).
By the way, in the series “Supernatural” there is another demon, but already bearing the name Alistair. According to the plot in one of the seasons, he served as the chief hell executioner, specializing in the terrifying torture of people and supernatural beings. He was particularly cruel and treacherous.
Interesting facts about the demon Crowley
Crowley is a demon that appears as a reddish cloud of smoke. By itself, in this state, it cannot exist. Therefore, I am forced to look for a vessel - a human shell capable of withstanding a demonic entity. If we talk about the carrier chosen by him, then during his life he was Fergus Roderick MacLeod, born in Scotland in 1661.
This man, as the demon himself tells in one of the series, was a very weak and miserable creature. In childhood, he was abandoned by his mother - the witch of Rowena. He was not satisfied with the average family, a naughty child and a small income. Later Fergus turned to the demon of crossroads and made a deal in order to dilute his boring life with brighter moments.
What abilities does the demon have?
Based on his demonic nature, Crowley has the following abilities:
- gift of immortality;
- invulnerability to ordinary human weapons;
- teleportation;
- the gift of healing and resurrection from the dead;
- telepathy.
In addition, he knows how to distort reality as he needs. This demon is also able to inhabit other people if necessary.
What phrases of the character became winged?
Despite the fact that this is a negative hero (Crowley is a demon), the character’s quotes diverge between the fans of the series, like hot cakes. And although they are sometimes vulgar and not without sarcasm, they are often pronounced on the case and in a timely manner. For example, what is only worth his phrase, uttered by him after a long trip in the trunk of a Winchester car.
Quotes in which the demon describes his attitude to angels, hunters, reapers, and ordinary people also look interesting. Almost all of them have become winged and are happily used by fans of the television series "Supernatural."
