In 2007, the director Andres Puustusmaa shot an exciting melodrama, in which famous Russian actors were invited. “The Red Pearl of Love” is a story about a bright feeling that did not end, unfortunately, with a happy end.
The creators of the picture
Petersburger Konstantin Murzenko wrote the script for the film back in 1998. A well-known narrow-minded journalist and filmmaker was hoping to get money for his project, but the cards were confused by a default. At that time, directors, producers, and actors were left without a livelihood.
The “Red Pearl of Love" was only launched into production in 2007 by the joint efforts of three film companies: the Russian Filcomoc, the Ukrainian Aurora production and the Estonian All film LTD.
The Estonian Andres Puustusmaa, who also shot the action movie White Sand, the thriller Red Mercury and the modern version of Ostrovsky’s play “Dowry”, sat in the director’s chair.
Finn Timo Salminen, who worked on a number of European projects, stood behind the camera: we are talking about the drama “Hauch”, the thriller “Rat Trap” and the tragicomedy “Le Havre”.
The shooting of the film “Red Pearl of Love” took place in Kiev in order to save the budget. The title song for the film was the composition of the group “Boombox” called “The Watchmen”.
